We just spent the last couple of months skiing in Utah at the canyons ski areas, and it would have been fun to connect with the Carv group here. We are leaving on Friday but will return next season.

In one of the pictures you took… I was flinging my pole exactly the way Phil nags me to fix! I instantly thought… “don’t show Phil that picture!”:becky:

You're skiing just fine. You ski way better than you give yourself credit.

Where are you located ? I might know some ppl there and can connect you. Btw if you look at the latest carv YouTube video about improvement - u will see our group around minute 6 till the end

I arrange some meetups through fb (I also started “girls who carv” fb group to connect us more and talk metrics and tips and meetups

It’s so much fun to ski with others who use it and I plan more meetups - maybe if you ever come to Utah we can plan something
Where in Utah do you ski? Will you be out this week? I would love to join yall next season.

I’ve been struggling to get above around 133 recently with all of the spring slush. Today in the morning there was just absolutely lovely groomed soft snow and it lasted quite awhile because the resort was VERY quiet. Finally got back up to my high of 138 with a bunch of runs within a point or 2 of that as well. I really thought I could get to my 140 goal potentially as I was feeling very good, but alas I was unable to before the snow got too slushy/mucky to keep the scores that high. BUT I had a bunch of those high runs with lots of 140s (up to 147!) on individual turns within the longer runs. So maybe I’m getting closer! Lol In any case, I still think it is unlikely to happen this season with continuing spring conditions, but who knows maybe everything will align one more time before it comes to an end at the end of the month.

I use monitor mode very occasionally, and did some yesterday after I was scrolling through turn by turn numbers on the lift. I should have done it earlier as when I did I was on more variable snow. The annoying part is that I really can’t tell what’s so much different/better about a 130s versus 140s turn in the moment. They feel the same lol, so it makes it somewhat unhelpful and a bit frustrating to listen to each turn and end up like, wait what was so great about that one??? :laughter:

lol I know what u mean. I do feel like slowly over time I do feel when a turn is clicking or not…and I think that mostly first hour or 2 when groomers r good and legs r fresh it’s going better - as I become tired even turns that feel good are lower cause my max at that point prob dropped..

u r in the girls who carv group right ? Maybe Ask there as I think Laura is very very good on analyzing data and give suggestions (she is super technical)

Congrats on your new high score!
I also have no idea how or why a specific segment scored higher than another. My husband shot a video of me when I had my record skiIQ and I looked at it and thought “that was good?”. I had nonidea I looked that bad while skiing eventhough Carv told me I was doing well!

So excited! I reached a plateau early this winter and today was my first day not on the clock skiing. I had 2 goals. Day one of breaking in new boots and upping my IQ score. I forgot my ear bud so went purely on feel. It took 4 runs but managed to gain 3 points and am now into the next category. Oddly enough the 2 point boost on my last run which I repeated for consistency sake, came from going to a shorter turn radius. Now, I am keen to see if listening to my metric live will continue to help me improve. Hoping for another chamce tomorrow to play around with the app and metrics. The new boots are not quite there yet...still too much room in my silly stupid skinny ankle.

Woohoo. Congrats. It’s high scores season - I broke my previous record by 4 points 2 days ago and today I got twice in horrible conditions one point below my new high score.
I think I saw your record on the private leaderboard today

btw I think monitor mode is so much better for that than live coach …not sure which one you r using

Thank you.

I have not yet spent any real time woth the audio. Listening to it in my pocket drive me nuts. I will try the monitor mode tomorrow. Does it let me choose a specific metric?

Yes. I can choose what will be the metric they will read out to u. I usually just do iq to id when my turn was good , but if u trying to work on something specific u can have it read that metric to u and in that case get to know what r ur usual numbers so u will know what is better and what is worse

@Susan L I got your message while skiing Whiteface a few weeks ago. That kinda cracked me up, and I was going to post about it at the time but got sucked into Hall of Fame work as soon as I got off the snow and it slipped my mind.

Conditions were decent east coast, but there were some spots that were getting a bit thin. It was great skiing with people I only see occasionally.

Yesterday I was back on my home turf, skiing the 2026 Volkl Mantra 84W in 170cm.
It was a great ski to move from super crispy morning groomers to spring corn.
My highest score yesterday was 130
