I need new pants again

Input requested re Cloudveil pants fit. I've heard they run small-ish. Looking at Cloudveil Madison on Steep Planet and wondering how the sizing is from anyone who wears Cloudveil. Medium specs look good for me.

Just went through all this less than a couple of months ago and thought I'd hit the jackpot with what I bought (Helly Hansen). Have dropped between 5-7# since my period of inactivity and can now put both my arms inside the pants at the waist. Hate suspenders. I will definitely gain the weight back eventually but am resigned to needing 2 sizes of pants in the closet.

These pants are a good price and ship for free. If anyone has any input, I'd much appreciate it.

I have these pants. [ETA: I have the shell version, not the insulated.] I like them a lot -- I wouldn't say they run small, for ski pants. Maybe they run on the small side of true. (Does that make sense?) I recently bought a pair of medium Mountain Hardwear pants that are too big, so Cloudveil does appear to run smaller than MH.

I generally wear a 6 or 8 in pants (depending on brand and/or how snug I want them), and the mediums are just fine. The cut is great (for me, at least): roomy enough for comfort, but not at all sloppy or baggy looking. They could stand to be a couple inches longer, but I think they are 32" so I can't complain too much. Most pants are shorter (unless you order a Long).

This isn't the best picture in the world, but maybe it helps:

Thanks, pinto. I think you offered advice the first time I was on this hunt. Guess it's time for me to have a 2-size ski pants wardrobe, as I seem to always be hovering on the 6-8 edge. New pants (true 8) are now hanging as badly as the previous ones :( Perhaps an enviable problem to others, but kind of an expensive issue. I've got some bookmarked, Cloudveil Madison Insulated. If the measurements are correct, as provided by mfr, they should work.

I just got the Zero G pant which I wore on Thurs and love. I'd say the xs is true to size for me but according to Cloudveil-xs hips 34.5-35.5.

My hips are 33 but the pants fit perfectly. I won't be able to put lots of layers underneath. I'm hoping I won't need to. I called Cloudveil and salesperson said the Zero G's run large and she had to go down a size, but I don't see that in the xs.

I'm short and I love the length, no more "baggy" legs.

Ain't that the truth!

I bought my ski helmet tight last fall, and now I need to replace it again too. I can't believe that even my head has gotten so much smaller!

On the up side -- I ski better, and get up faster when I fall down. Not as much padding between me and the bony parts, though, and that's a bit spooky!

Issue hopefully resolved. Scored some NWT Cloudveil Koven's for $75 on eBay. Checked around elsewhere, very pricey pants. Still time enough in the season to wear, and when I (invariably) gain back the weight, back to the Helly Hansens?? What fun to need a 2-size wardrobe....

My sizes are double-digits, but I understand that concept VERY well. It's especially amazing how different manufacturers clothes fit! Some make you feel like you've lost weight, others, well, not so good!

It's kinda like shoes, and you and I can understand that well! Size 10 in one thing, size 11 in another!

^^^ Ha! Well, at least you can get into SOME 10's. That option vanished for me 26 years ago.... Feet match my size 8-1/2 hands (usually have to wear men's size medium gloves)....somehow or other, I got ripped off of about 4" in height, I think.

I'm right there with you on the hand size. My gloves are a men's large, probably could have gone with the medium, but the large is a better fit.
I don't have long fingers, I have long palms...I did get the height though, and the broad shoulders, and the long torso... sheesh! why couldn't it have been long legs?? :ROTF:

These arrived yesterday while I was skiing (figures...). That's okay, worth the wait, they FIT WELL and are a neutral enough color (grayish-brown) to go with everything else - and even have suspenders (which probably will come off). Hooray. Wagers now taken that they will be too small by next November....

Well at least you'll have them for when you need them! It's amazing how we as woman can change sizes sometimes in a matter of 1 day, just because! You never know!

I tend to keep two pair of pants on hand for skiing for. Size 10 an size 8. I have to be having a really really skinny day to wear the 8.

My normal pant size is a 6. Go figure :noidea:

^^ Probably because the sizing is all over the map for ski clothes. Drives me nuts. Sometimes even the sizing charts are weird - and usually stuff runs way small, in quite a few brands.
