I rode up my first curb today! Yay me!

After a year of being chicken I finally got that one. :yahoo:

YAY! Gosh, do I remember that fear and trying to convince myself that I could do it. Even though as a kid I used to do it all the time. Congrats on making it up. :D

Good job, chic!

I am finally getting some confidence on the bike, which is huge for me. I feel comfortable rolling down stuff, and rolling over roots, etc, but for some reason I have had a total mental block with regards to curbs.

Now I can finally (hopefully) move on.

Nothing new yet. I did get a GT Avalanche 2.0 last year.

Still looking to upgrade and searching for the best fit for me. I need to save a little more money first.

Me, too. Have you demo'd anything since the Safire?

I'm hoping for next year... :eyebrows: But, to be honest, I just can't seem to stay away from researching on mtbr.com, interviewing any shop guy that will humor me, etc. I guess buying a bike is like planning a wedding, you will take exactly whatever time you have.

I've ridden some in the parking lot (Specialized Pitch, Specialized Stumpjumper, and Santa Cruz Heckler), but haven't formally demo'd any out on the trail yet. My local bike shop will apply my demo costs towards a new bike, but that seems to be if you are buying it sometime soon... hehe When I asked if they would apply it towards a purchase next season, they were a little surprised and the shop boy couldn't guarantee it.. suggested I talk to the manager next time I'm in.. I don't blame 'em though... :noidea:

I keep going back and forth on which bike I would demo first. Today, it would be the Trek Fuel Ex8, but who knows what I'll say next week! haha

Another option I'm considering is trying to buy one of their demo bikes from them at the end of the season, if they don't get sent back to the dealer or shop guys don't snatch them all.

I tried the Fuel Ex5.5 and it felt pretty heavy to me.

I have been looking into the SC Juliana or superlight but they had no bikes smaller than medium when I went in. I asked them to call me once some smaller bikes come in stock.

The quest continues...

In the mean time we have identified the fit issue with mmy GT bike, (the top tube is slightly too long). Mr Sheena went to work on this problem and the GT has a new 40mm stem. It makes a huge difference in reach and I feel more comfortable going down hill and just riding the bike overall.

Sweet! I take it your seat is already as far forward as it will go?

DH finally told me a week ago that he felt too stretched. His seat was almost all the way back, so I moved it forward about 1 inch. He said that already felt a little better. :eyebrows:

Update: PS. I think the Fuel EX8 is lighter than the EX5.5, if it's in your price range. They have a WSD and pretty nice components for the price. Just saying in the event that the geometry was fine, but only the weight was the issue.
