I am to skiing as my husband is to biking.

Sounds like one of those annoying SAT questions, doesn't it?

But it's true. Mr. Ski Diva feels about skiing the way I feel about biking. I mean, I like it well enough, but if someone told me I had to give it up tomorrow, I could. Still, I do my best and give it my all, when I go. Just as he does with skiing.

Does anyone else have a similar relationship with their spouse/SO and a sport?

Dirt biking!
I have always enjoyed being support team for my Husband's dirt bike racing. But....if you told me I had to give it up, I'd be perfectly fine with that.

For him, he skis and has fun with me, but I'm clearly more passionate about it than he is.
Sumthin for each season?

I am to MLB as my DH is to MTB

I am to MLB as my DH is to MTB. What a difference one letter makes, eh?

I watch parts of games on tv with hubby and he is in I don't know how many fantasy leagues! I could never watch another baseball game in my life and be very happy.

I am getting back into MTB. I only biked a couple times a year the last 5-6 years and that was usually with a GF. I decided that I really missed it and how happy it made me, so I'm baaaack. DH is very sweet and goes on two rides a week with me and he has an okay time, but he is still doing it for me. He has yet to suggest, "Let's get up early on Saturday and ride at Russian Ridge!" or anything remotely close to that.

Now, I was also a scuba diver pre-DH, but that I gave up willingly. It's soooo much work and prep and $$ for a short time down. He gave it a try when we were dating, but had problems clearing his ears. Told him right away, "Don't worry about it. I could never dive another day and be just fine."

So, I guess MTB is not to me as scuba is to me. hahaha

Hmmmm. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones? DH and I are pretty much on the same ski page! In fact, I'll guess that he's still a notch over me: less particular about a sub-zero day, blizzard driving conditions, weekend crowds, etc. Matters not to him. He's going.

However, he is (also) a scuba guy, something in which I absolutely cannot participate (ears). Neighbor got him re-involved after years of absence in this. (mostly due to me) (Gee, thanks, neighbor....) No small $ commitment in re: equipment.....

So his wife and I are scuba widows (she doesn't even swim) in the summer on many a day....sometimes we go out and power-shop out of town, just to "show them!"

I could put it the same way but at this point it's me that would give up skiing before I'd give up biking, and he's a little more rabid about skiing.... Though it's a very fine line as to which we love more. And it's not like either of us would give up either sport without a gun to our head so it's pretty irrelevant!

MSL, maybe you and neighbor lady should get back at them by taking up mountain biking?? Yes, yes, I think that is a grand idea!

My DH and I are like MSL and hers. We both ski and love it. Summer sports are another things. For years we had sea doo's. Great fun on the water. DH isn't a swimmer and really wasn't comfortable. So he bought a boat. Well since he likes his boat so much, I agreed to sell the sea doo's. But I got into Dragon boat racing last year big time. This is so much fun. We practice 2 x a week and some Saturday mornings. We are racing 5X this year and the races are Saturdays locally or out of town. He can't understand that addiction. So I try to go out in the boat with him on Sundays or whenever. Usually I don't do something right, (family has had boats forever, I dont' know what I'm doing, yet I docked the big sucker Sunday when he couldn't.) So, I'm glad to know that there are others out there with similar lifestyle problems.

Almost identical situation here. He's also more into racing and tuning than I am. When biking, I'm more passionate by far and way more anal about the bike maintenance. Either way, I'd have to be dead to give up either.

He doesn't share my passion for in-line skating or sailing the Hobie Cat; then again, I could care less if there's a baseball or football game on TV.
