How does one accidentally buy skis? Well, I wasn’t looking, really, but I have been keeping an eye out for a deal for my SO, who really DOES need new skis (his have over 150 days on them and are done). He wanted Libertys, and currently has the Origins and loves them. So, in my spare time, I’ve been looking for sales and/or for something suitable on Marketplace.
Personally, I’ve wanted a set of something a hair wider for “powder skis”/soft snow days/I loved the Sheeva 9s but couldn’t justify another 90ish underfoot, so I low-key wanted to fill this non-hole with a Sheeva 10. I narrowly missed out on a killer deal on a used pair, and in researching skis that might be similar to the Origin for my SO, I stumbled across the specs and profile of the Liberty Genesis. It seems very similar to the Sheeva….like the Sheeva and the Genesis might be comparable skis. Like comparable enough I’d probably enjoy either one. And then I read someone here posting (a few years ago) that the Genesis was like a more nimble, more precise version of the Sheeva 10 and also better at speed. All of these things appeal to me.
So in my searching of sales, I typically just put in “Liberty” because sites usually only have a few for sale anyway. Enter Christy Sports, with their massive end of season sale. The pair my SO wanted was $280, and oh no, they also had a Genesis 101 in my length for $250. Gosh, I have no idea how they ended up in my cart….maybe my cat sat on the keyboard? Yes, we’ll go with that. It was totally an accident and I blame the cat. I can’t possibly be the only person who accidentally buys skis because they’re deeply on sale, right?
But also. They’re PRETTY. Which shouldn’t matter, but does.
