Conditions are MUCH improved over last week, thanks to recent snow. Plus there's supposed to be a good storm on Friday. So come on up!!!

I can only report on today at Okemo,Vt. The conditions were good. Most trails have 3-4" of fresh over a base that was mostly ice 4 days ago. The groomers did a great job and I could get an edge in on most trails. Jackson Gore and the main mountain had great condtions. The Southside was very, very firm. They are forcasting a big dump for Friday. hope this helps.

Oh, friends said Stratton on Sunday was pure ice.

Skied Okemo Sat 1/12 and Stratton Sun 1/13 --
Both mtns worked with what they had and they must have busted up miles of crunchy stuff with the groomers, but they need some real snow fast. There is now plenty of ice to go around at each area and you had to choose your runs carefully. I thought Stratton was in slightly better shape than Okemo, but then it was 2 days after the rain and they had an added day to blow snow. I'm sure the snow yesterday improved things, but for a while I'd expect to find stuff scraped down to solid ice in places as the day wears on -- esp on upper mountain and steeper runs.

STRATTON CONDITIONS

Just returned from skiing Stratton today. Conditions were nice! Much like Lilgeorg's Okemo report, above. Packed and machine groomed powder over an icy layer, especially on the more traveled runs like Black Bear and on the black runs, but not a problem to hold an edge, and some areas had enough snow to do some nice carving, especially the blue runs on the lower mountain. They were blowing snow like crazy on the Snow Bowl for the green runs. This Friday's storm should improve conditions even further, but I had a great day today. It snowed lightly and it was not crowded at all!

I was at Okemo last weekend (as I am every weekend:smile:) and on Saturday it was a mountain full of ice. Or, as my 7 yr old said.."it was like skiing on ice cubes between sheets of ice". By Sunday, things were getting better. Monday's snow and this week's cold temps will certainly be helping things. Hopefully, the storm at the end of the week will be a good one (lots of spoons under our pillows!). I am confident the conditions will be much improved!

I skied Okemo again today and thought the conditions were great. They did a great job on the trails and surpassed my expectations for hiding any ice they had. Exceptional quality snow on Cheif, Upper and lower World Cup, Screaming demon, Quantim Leap, and even Limelight!
