How often do your skis get a full tune?

Just wondering how often people get a full tune on a pair skis? Or more precisely how do you determine it is "time" to get a base grind etc rather than just sharpening the side edges? I don't tend to have full tunes done very often--in fact I have some skis that have never had a full tune--and all my others have only had one base grind in their lifetime! Just curious, as the bases on one pair in particular has gotten scratched up (not deep--just ugly) so considering going for full tune this time around, but hate doing that as I don't like to shorten the life of the ski. I'm not super hard on my skis, so they naturally just tend to stay in pretty good shape normally, but lots of rocks and pebbles have gotten churned up lately!

I always get a tune at the first of the season. Then it depends on gouges etc. I used to get a full tune every 10 days. I started going through skis, so that changed. And after being at a friend that tunes her own, I decided I could do this too. So touch up every couple of days.

I ski roughly 20 days a month and I have been getting a full tune every month and half tune every 7-10 days inbetween. I ski hard and am on my edges 99% of the time. I can tell my edges need work when I don’t cut through the snow like butter.
You have probably seen a discussion about this ski app called Carv. My instructor is obsessed with Carv and he also owns a ski shop and has sold me all my skis. He’d look at the daily leaderboard and text me when he thinks I need a tune! Sure enough I ski better after every tune.

While I switch out between skis, I probably get each ski fully tuned once to three times a season. A typical season is about 80-100 days. Those days include a lot of early and late season speed dating with rocks and dirt.

Omg do u really see diff in your carv results ? I’m so bad at tuning but if it will improve my metrics that will be a huge motivation

First up I don't have Carv. But I love tuned skis. They grip hardpack and mine grip ice too. So, sharp edges are the thing. At least here in the East, you're not going to be able to grip the snow without a tune.

For me, about once a season. For two pairs of skis, and ~50 days total, it suffices. I'm gentle on equipment typically and the snow is usually soft enough that a 2x4 would hold an edge.
