How are things holding up in VT?

I was just wondering how conditions are holding up up there given all the recent weather. I can't decide if I'm bummed that it's likely going to be icy over New Year's, or optimistic that the conditions will keep the crowds at bay... My fingers are crossed that it will be warm enough to soften up the stuff in the trees. I cannot WAIT to get in the trees.

Edited to add: Maybe I'll take a bump lesson if it's warm enough...

Today there is rain . . . lots of sleet and rain. Yuck! :(
(I'm in Vermont near Killington and Okemo)

Tog Called from the chairlift at Okemo. Said he was letting Tcarey kick his butt
All in all, he said it was raining which was making for soft conditions.

Yep. Warm temps, light rain, and fog at Okemo today. Tomorrow warm temps. Makes for some soft snow, which isn't bad. It's supposed to cool off this week, so things will get better.

Killington: Icy!!!

Was out and about Killington today. It was VERY ICY. They expect some light snow the next few days so maybe it will improve somewhat but I'm not holding my breath.

I was at K yesterday as well. I agree with your description- very icy. We had no choice but to ski as we had some family up.There are a few inches of freshies that fell overnight, with some more in the forecast for the next day or so. Hopefully, that will improve things for NYD.

Here in Maine, temps have now moderated (back to "normal," whatever that is...), and it's.....SNOWING :snow: - BIG flakes! Expected to snow today and tomorrow, then the high front moves in with a day of uber-cold and wind (Thurs) - then moderating for the weekend. Anything that got groomed out before this drop in temps is going to have that infamous formica with dust surface. Anything that was left to "cure" to the cold will be spared that outcome. Very testy timing for mountain ops: what to leave, what to sacrifice. Not an easy job during holiday periods. Let's hope there is significant enough accumulation to make a difference and soften up the top layer.

Hopefully the bit of snow they're getting will help, but I do expect it to be icy. Thanks for the updates, ladies! We're driving up tomorrow, and I'm pretty excited to get out of NYC for New Year's, at least. I've been here for the past 4 or 5 and VT will be a really nice change of pace.
