How about skiing and the Sundance Film Festival?

Boy this sounds like alot of fun! Has anyone ever skied during the day and gone to the Sundance Film Festival in the evening? I envision something like this: ski The Canyons during the day, see a film at night, ski Deer Valley during the day, see a film at night, ski Park City during the day, see a film at night . . . Get the picture? Apparently, the Sundance Film Festival is giving away coupons for 20% off lift tickets at these resorts. Now that sounds like lots of fun . . . what do you think?

Housing is at its priciest during sundance, so finding someplace to stay can be difficult. I understand the slopes are pretty empty though!! Restaurants are booked well in advance and the town is kind of crazy.

Now you've got me thinking...

Film is one of my side projects, and I usually get comp tickets to Sundance. Some years I make it, some years I don't, cuz of the prices for airfare and housing.

But combined with a ski trip...with discount lift tickets no less! Excellent idea, Lola. Looks like I'll be doing it next year.

I have some friends who did this a couple years ago, and had a blast. They had to reserve spots for the films quite a bit in advance. Restaurants, too. And accomodations were higher than usual.

Still, they said the skiing was really good; not crowded. Might be fun!

I was in Park City during Sundance my first time West. The skiing was Awesome!! There was no one on the hill. Town is crazy. We got lucky and found a room a Resort Plaza for summer rates because the guy said he could not book it because everyone wanted to be in town instead of on the Mountain. We did not get to any of the films because it was a very last minute trip. My husband called me on a Tuesday afternoon from work and told me he had to go to Salt Lake City the following Tuesday for work. I told him there was no way was going to Salt Lake City, Utah in January with out me. I had 6 days to plan the whole trip. I had never been there before so just finding a place to eat was a challenge so we never had the chance to do the film part. I know Park City very well now because I have been there 6 times since then. Plan early for your room and go to the Sundance Flim Festival website for more information about tickets. Be prepared for downtown to be a zoo. We found that you can always eat at the Park City Grille in the Marriott Hotel at Prospector Square, they have a great breakfast bar too. This is just a thought, plan on going for just part of the film week. Get there on Wed. and stay until the following Wed. This way you can enjoy the films and still be there when everyone leaves and enjoy the town. The skiing will be great the whole time. We go out the week after now. If you want to know more about Park City let me know.
