The mountain ops folks from Highlands asked the towns folk for help. And help we did!
Highlands closed last Sunday. But we plan to reopen NEXT weekend & the weekend after that. Problem is, it just won't stop snowing!!
Due to all the snow, the ski patrol cannot ski & track out Highlands enough - they can't keep up.
So they asked everyone for help. Today it was a "calling all troops" Powder Posse. Rules: must be an expert skier who can ski deep snow, double blacks; bring lunch & liquids; must sign a waiver. No pass, ticket needed, free skiing & free parking.
Easy enough - I'm there! So I show up right at 9:30...me & about 600 other people (not exaggerating). 2 FEET of untouched POW POW. TONS of it. 9" of it fell LAST NIGHT. They kept us up on the top of the mountain and closed lifts pretty early on us - Noon. One of my best days out this season. Certainly didn't feel like April 11th !! ??
Felt so damn good I hit up Ajax after they kicked out the Powder Posse. Ajax....almost as good with tons of freshies.
Amazing. This weekend is going to ROCK.
