Saturday - no clouds, a bit windy, very WARM. I've hiked & skied the Bowl only once earlier this season. I don't like to do it in adverse conditions, so Saturday was perfect. Nobody had skied Highlands in the past 2 weeks, either...so even better!
With: my sweetie, his bro visiting from LA, and 3 others. The first time I hiked the Bowl it was early in the season, I had no pack, no water, ate no breakfast & was slightly hungover. It was 10 degrees & super windy. This time...pack, water, breakfast, felt great...and my legs were in "end of season" shape, so I was psyched.
It was amazing. I beat my boyfriend AND his brother up and it felt great. I'm usually a slow poke. The skiing was amazing in such warm weather...but yet - there was still soft pow up top. It skied like mid-winter.
Then we took some more runs & partied at the bottom again...in tank tops & t-shirts.
Took the crew back to my place, cooked up Omaha steaks, potatos, asparagus....lots of wine & beer, chocolate chip cookies & ice cream.
What a DAY!!! Still one weekend to go at Highlands. Life is good.
