Not that we needed that periodical of skiing knowledge, the Washington Post, to tell us this, but it had a few experts pick out some overlooked ski areas across the country. They are:

in the west:
Whitefish
Durango
Solitude
Taos
Tamarack

and MRG and Saddleback in the east.
