Help picking out new skis!

Hello!

I'm new to this, but all the advice and help you guys give is awesome and I am in need of some as well! Growing up, I used to ski every weekend and was in the intermediate but more advanced range. I went away to school though for four years in an area that was not close to the snow so sadly, I only made it up a few times in those years. Now I am in New York City, but moving back to California where I grew up and I hope to ski regularly as I used to.

The last skis I bought are the 05/06 Elan Freeride M666 in a 160, but I didn't demo before buying them and found immediately that they are really heavy for me and without the weight to turn them properly, I struggle to ski with good technique. I found someone who is interested in buying them, so I'm looking for a new ski.

I found a great deal on last year's K2 One Luv ski, however I know it's not as wide as this year's model. I am not sure what ski will best suit the California snow. I am 5'4" and about 125lbs, so I am deciding between a 153 and 160, though I hope to go frequently now and advance to the skill level I used to have.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated! I would like to stick with a women's ski and I have heard a lot of great things about the K2 line. The men's Elan was too much for me to handle since it's been several years for me.

hello!

check out ski reviews in the gear threads . . .
lots of good info in there!

and don't forget to demo if you can (there's a great demo chart/post to compare skis in the gear threads as well -- take it with you when you demo)!
it's the only way to know for sure if you're gonna love the skis!

have fun and happy skiing!!!!
