Has Anyone Skiied on Solomon Scarlet skis?

I love my Kaya twin tips but they aren't beefy enough for a big mountain. I'm out West for a few days and am going to try to demo the Solomon Scarlet skis (women's graphic but same ski as the Solomon 1080 Gun unisex skis). Has anyone tried them and if so, with what results? Can you see any benefit to having these skis for the Northeast and if so, what size should I get? I'm just under 5'7", weigh 140 lbs., and am an advanced skiier. I have 4 pr. of skis (OK, I admit, I'm an addict) from 156 to 163 cm. The Scarlet comes in 154 (which seems short) and 164 (which might be long except in Western powder).

There was a pair at the demo, but sorry Diva they were too long - 174. I didn't want to kill myself on them. I don't think they went out on any women that was there!

i have the scarlet in 154. i just got it. skied it all weekend. i am a pocket rocket 165 afficionado. 5'2" 140Lbs. strong.advanced-expert skier. it is a great ski!!! it is much like my beloved pocket rocket in that it is a do everything go anywhere no matter the snow ski, but it truly does carve better. it doesn't wash out on hard pan where i would feel insecure with my pr's. straightlining it tracks great, yet it turns on a dime (read 'tree skiing'). and it is an excellent mogul ski as far as i can tell though moguls are more of an aspiration than a forte for me. i had big fun on it this weekend and only look forward to expanding my horizons on this ski!we had quite a bit of fresh this week so it was optimum conditions but on the main groomers we hit scratch so it was a nice variety to try the ski in. duh it floats, it was the other surfaces that were impressive. cut up is no problem, loves groomers!

How tall are you if I might ask? I would love to add this ski to my quiver for my February trips to Big Sky, MT. I'm almost 5'7" so I think I'd need the 164 for better flotation, but I would love the smaller turn radius in order to have more versatility with the ski.....

Jeez, I just re-read that I asked someone who gave their height how tall they are! Must need my reading glasses....

i would think the 164 would be good too. it has a lot of camber at least compared to the pocket rocket (i ski the 165). anda lot of sidecut. i think it has more pop than the pr and better edge grip. but i think it would be fun to compare both lengths. but shoot! if i can turn it straight downhill with confidence and get no shimmy i think thats good. i might bet that longer wouldn't be quite as nice in the bumps but that is not my forte', its what i'm working on. thats whats so nice about skiing as a sport. you keep finding things to explore, expand on and learn.oh and as for float, the shovel is 130mm the waist 92 under foot and 122 at the tail. it isn't going to sink! i look down at them and laugh to myself that i have two snow boards on my feet!!
