I went through the Curated.com form today and the specialist recommended some great gear for me. I'm wondering if anyone has purchased through them and if it went well. Thanks!

I've never purchased through Curated.com but interesting size recommendations given your height/stats. They sound a little on the short side. Also I really like the Salomon z10 ti bindings but a very light binding that suits my stats. I'm quite petite !

Where do you usually ski and approximately at what level? That would make a difference in size recommendations etc.

Were there questions related to the type of terrain and speed you prefer? The Astral 84 and the SA88 are designed with different terrain preferences in mind.

How much difference was there for the length recommendation for the BP78 and BP88? The mid-70s skis I've owned in the last decade have been 5-10cm shorter than my mid-80s all-mountain skis.

As for boot recommendations, perhaps a place to start with a boot fitter but definitely not enough to buy online.

I ski groomed runs at Mammoth all season, icy to shallow powder, to spring crud. I've been skiing 5-8 days per year but I've never been able to get past beginner status. I'm a solid green, panicky snow plower at tough moments, blue run skiier.

First reaction: I think they are recommending skis that are too short for you.
Second reaction: online boot recommendations are useless without a bootfitter's measurement. And those boots seem pretty soft for your height and weight.
It looks like they are just throwing a selection of women's gear at you, but you should probably be looking at men's skis just for the length.

I came across Curated a while back, for mountain bikes. Just for fun, because I'm pretty up to speed on recent bikes (worked in a bike shop, live on a mtb trail network, just bought a new bike, etc.) I decided to give it a try. I was pretty underwhelmed by their recommendations. I don't know what their business model is or how big their database is, but given the parameters I gave them, they could have recommended any number of excellent bikes. Instead I received an odd and small assortment of bike, some of which fell into entirely different categories from each other. At least for bikes, I would recommend doing your own research and talking to a shop.

No advice on Curated, but this is exactly how I'd describe myself as a skiier which made me chuckle haha Welcome!!

I found the suggestion of the SA88 in 165 but the Yumi in 168 a bit odd. I'm only 5’4” and have liked the SA88 in 165, but the Yumi in 161.

Of the Curated suggestions I would think the Yumi 168 could work for you, but if used make sure it is one of the more recent with metal.

Curated is similar to the "gear head" at Back Country - From their web site:

*Sign up to become a Curated expert -Apply, create your profile, and learn the ins-and-outs of the job from other experienced experts.
*Get connected with people who need advice-Customers provide details about what they're looking for, then you connect and discuss options on our platform.
*Make recommendations and get paid -Use your expertise to make recommendations and help customers decide on purchases. Earn commission and tips when they buy.
In theory this sounds great - I would love to do this for other women who surf. However, I'm not sure they really have a large enough "expert" base to make it work right now. Seems that OP was given the names of some popular skis with lengths that might be appropriate for stated level of skiing. I think she will received better info from the Diva's as a collective
@Candebsna Since your at Mammoth here are my suggestions:
In the ideal scenario you would be able to head up on a "weekday" to get boots and skis dialed in.

1. Go to Footloose and work with Corty (sat) or Kevin (sun) (call for their days during the week but friday both should be there) to get properly fitted for boots - you can demo as many boots as you want in a day (its a pain to go back and forth from the mountain, but it is a rarity that you get to demo boots before you buy).
2. Demo skis in different lengths - the mountain usually has a good selection of skis for your ability level. (in fact most of the skis that were suggested for you). If you demo at the mountain you can switch up skis/ sizes all day long. (better to do this on a week day if you can).
3. Take a lesson or two (am group lessons with the add on hours is the best)
4. Spend the rest of your season lapping chair 12 to dial in your skills with out the crowd.
