Happy Summer!

It's finally here, ladies -- the longest day of the year.

I actually don't hate summer -- despite the fact that there's no skiing. In fact, that -- and those days when it's unbearably hot -- are really the only downsides to the season.

So let's all post postitive things about summer.

Here's my list:

Warm temperatures: Believe it or not, I actually don't enjoy being cold. It's just that I love skiing so much that I'm willing to, shall we say, overlook it. It's nice not to go outside dressed in multiple layers.

The beach: As someone who grew up on the Jersey shore, the beach is in my blood. There's something almost visceral about it to me. When I go to the beach, I feel like I'm going home. For me, the ideal would be a home in the mountains and one on the beach. But unless I hit the lottery, that ain't going to happen!

Summer shoes: What woman doesn't love the toe-baring sandals you get to wear in the summer?

Cooking on the grill: My husband and I grill a lot in the summer. Food just tastes better. I miss that in the winter.

Summer veggies and fruit: Corn on the cob, peaches, blueberries, strawberries, tomatoes. 'Nuff said.

Flowers: I'm a big fan of anything that blooms. Green is nice, too.

Long days: I love how late it stays light.

What about you?

Yep, you got a good list going. I pretty much share all of them.

Add:
- Sandals: yes, I love that! Or go barefoot occasionally
- Wearing shorts
- Take EVERYTHING off (at the appropriate location, that is)
- Skinny dipping

More:
- Wearing skirts! No, I don't wear skirt that often. But I do like the way I look in the mirrow when I'm in skirt.

Talk about long day...I am here in Wasilla, Alaska on the logest day of the year. That means 24 hours of sunshine and 24 hours of fun. You see the Alaskans get long winter nights so when they have sunshine, they use every minute of it. So there are softball games, 10 K races, dancing in the streets, native craft vendors, and so much more. It is a real celebration.

But what I like about summer is spending hours on top of a mountain watching hawks and hang glider pilots soar the sky.

Now I could be realy mean and mention that winter is only really just kicking off over here in Australia and I'll be having my first days back on the skis on Wednesday.
Have to admit that that I love summer too. Lovely lake in town for various water sports (fishing is much more exciting if you take wine and cheese), daylight into the evening, barbeques with friends, biking, hiking, and camping more!

Do you have room for a house guest?
I think I could find a way to get down there.
