Great Sunglassess

Ladies,

I splurged last week, and bought a pair of Smith Whisper sunglasses. They are totally worth it. They are the "new Interlock" technology, so they look like regular sunglasses, but with interchangeable lenses. No more looking like a geek when traveling to and from the mountain to errands to home. The Smith web site says that Whisper is made for " small faces", and it is. It was weird the first time to change the lenses, but very cool once I had the hang of it. If you buy from the web site (instead of finding a local retailer) check out the prices and shipping policies for the internet vendors. They are not the same. www.smithoptics.com

Maybe soon I will be able to wear them on the mountain.....

Thanks for the recommendation. I have Oakley's for driving but Utopia Optics for biking and skiing. I really hate switching from one pair to the other. THIS is something I'll definitely look into.

I like the looks of them too!

I have those, same color too. I picked them because my husband is the worst at breaking and losing sunglasses, and then taking mine. I figured he probably wouldn't want a purple pair. The only thing to be careful of on these, is I lost one of the rubber pieces near the ear on a bike ride. Seems they don't hold up well when you take them on and off with a helmet. Smith though is very good at customer service, I am sure they would replace it if I sent them in. Which I will never do, because then I would have pay back the favor to hubby while they were away. Not sure how well that would work. They stay on fine without the piece though, can't even tell, so almost a non-issue.

I have a pair of Smith Sliders, they are fantastic glasses. I don't wear them skiing (I always wear goggles) but they are great for wearing in the snow, and the orange lenses are perfect for driving in snowy, foggy conditions. I wear the yellow lenses for bike riding in the evening too.

I'm trying to figure out what color of lens (if other than clear) would be ideal to use for road, and perhaps trail, running, for the purpose of keeping bugs and other twiggy dusty crap that gets swirled around from the wind and to protect my eyes from UV rays. Any thoughts? I think I may ultimately "need" a yellow and some darker tint. And a rose. Because everyone needs rose-colored glasses every now and then.

Seriously, I've been researching Oakleys, which apparently has what they're calling the "Asian fit" frame for several of their styles. It's suppose to have a narrower bridge, among other features, to work better with the bone structure that many Asians have. I had no idea that my glasses weren't supposed to be touching the tops of my cheeks! The style I'm looking at is the Half Jacket, which, like the Smiths Happy Feet describes, has interchangeable lenses.

Pequenita,

When I was looking for goggles last winter, I found on both the Smith and Oakley sites descriptions of the lense colors and what they do best. I like the lenses in the brown to orange ranges. They work better for me in going into shady to sunny and vice versa. I have some black/ gray lenses, but only wear those on really sunny days. For my previous pair of Smith sunglasses I found replacement lenses in a variety of shades on a web site call Sunglass Giant. It is bookmarked on my other computer, so I will try to post the addresses on Monday.

Native Throttles

I bought a pair of Native Throttles this summer at EMS. They have been amazing. They fit a small face snugly, but with enough room for eyelashes to blink (with or without mascara.) I can wear them running, cycling with no budging and they look normal for day to day wear. I can't wait to try them on the slopes this winter. They come with polarized lenses and you can purchase additional lenses that can be inserted. Here's a link to a review. This is my first post and I can't figure out how to post a picture. Any hints?

My Smiths came with 3 sets of lenses - brown, orange and yellow. I know you can get others, but these probably fit most requirements.
