Great class this morning!

I went to my class wondering how I was going to ski the surface(see previous post), but it went fine. Half way up the mountain the surface was normal snow, a little icy but all the way up was definitely ice. Actually I could hear the scrrrrch of the skis from the one(and only at the time) skier on the blue slope from the main lodge. I found out that I ski back instead of forward and I turn my upper body too much too. Our class was 6 with 2 instructors. We just went on green slopes and focused on turns, making as little noise as possible. At the end of the class I went to a bootfitter(he only does soles, doesn't sale boots) that comes to Bristol 3 days/week. He is a certified pedorthist(whatever that is). He told me that the reason I stand back is that my boots are too stiff, too tall and too big. He estimated 2 sizes too big. I am a size 8 and my soles say 265 and the boots say 299 mn. So I may have to buy boots.

Definitely sounds like your boots are too big, frenchgirl! I wear an 8.5/9 and just recently got into boots in size 24.0, which is a sole length of 285mm, versus my old boots which were 26 and 300mm!

Street shoe 8 is 25 MP. Yours are 1 1/2 sizes too big probably. Get thee to a boot fitter who knows better!!

What make and model are you in now?

My old model was the nordica exopower 6.0 300mn(size 25 written on the boot). I went to back to the store and they leased me a woman's boot Nordica exopower 7.0 280mn, size 24. I will try them tomorrow. If they do not work I will be buying boots very soon. I am planning on buying some this season anyway, waiting for good sales. I also tried my son's boots 299mn Fischer and they were too stiff for me. My calves are sore from the stiff boots. I had to ski during my class with my top buckles barely buckled.

Nordica women's boots are called Olympia, just like the skis. exopower must be the rental line or an older model. You really should go look at some boots with a boot fitter. Not a box store either. In your other thread you mention that you would like to find them on sale. The thing is to find the right boot now, and then keep looking for them on sale.

I tried my new leased boot today and they feel great. I had a smile on my face on the mountain. The only thing is that they are a little small in the length so my toes were a little numb and cold. So I called the pedorthist from Bristol and he thinks that he can fix that. I have an appointment tomorrow. If he can fix it then I may think about keeping the boots longer. So far the Nordica line seems very comfortable on my feet.
