Freaky. We had something like that almost happen once with DD's daycare. Another girl's grandma tried to take her home when she was 8 months old. They don't have the same name and she doesn't even look like the other girl. Good thing the infant room teacher put a stop to that immediately.

I have been around alzheimers and dementia alot, so this doesn't surprise me. We actually had an older gentleman driving through town leave a gas staion without his wife. He made it several hundred miles before he realized she wasn't sleeping in the backseat and then couldn't remember where she might be. It is very sad actually, and kind of scary that they operate cars etc. This guy told the press that he didn't notice that she was missing, but was originally relieved that she had fallen asleep because she had been screaming at him about his driving the whole trip. Really scary. I hope this gentlemans family sees the writing on the wall, alot of families ignore it until something worse happens.

I'll just say the school employees that allowed a 4 yr old out of their care to the wrong person were off in nana land. Shouldn't happen. But I'm really glad he went off with a good person, not a predator, and was safely returned. It only takes 1-2 minutes & a child can be lost forever.

I can see his point on this one considering she had been screaming at him. A little unconcsious message going on there. Considering the increasing incidents of parents forgetting an infant in a car seat in the back seat, and the child baking to death, this incident is perfectly understandable at this man's age & with a screaming wife. I do not intend to minimize dementia or alzeihmers at all, but ya gotta wonder if he wasn't just enjoying some peace in life & didn't want to pop the bubble.

Oh I think so, until he realized, Uh-oh ! No bubble. I tried to search the archives for the story but I couldn't find it. It was quite the story you know those old timers don't carry cell phones, I can't remember if they found him or if he stopped and called the police when he figured out she wasn't in the car. The story on the surface is sort of amusing, but the reality behind it, not so funny.
