Gotta Love Chocolate

Same here, but next time I buy chocolate I'm gonna have to hide it from my husband. He ate ALL of the chocolate I bought for the trick-or-treaters!!

my own opinion, of course:
Note that it's the dark chocolate that has a higher content of antioxidants which is the "healthy" part for your heart they refer to in that article. An ideal chocolate though would be one made without your typical processed, bleached sugar - for instance a dark chocolate made with beet sugar is a nice treat and is genuinely healthy. The processing of bleached cane sugars , etc negates the positive qualities of the antioxidants themselves in the overall picture. Bleach = poison, after all.

If you have / had cancer or it's in the family these are always things to keep in mind and try to live with (the whole foods / macrobiotic approach). That way, you can ski longer

it's funny you bring this up . . .

for myself, i could pretty much live off of chocolate and snow, but my old roomate, like you, hates chocolate.

that is, she hated it untill after living with me for a while -- somehow my love for chocolate magicaly disolved her hate . . . and she begand to crave it!

weird, no? :p

Two reason people hate chocolate:

1) Allergy. I'm not joking. There're people who gets itchy and red on their skin if they eat chocolate. Sad, but true.

2) Some chocolates are too sweet! Actually, most chocolates ARE too sweet.

Came back from Switzerland with a suitcase stuffed of Swiss chocolate whereever I could fit them in. Should last me till next... week?;)

Life is not worth living without chocolate!

Trouble is I,ve not had chocolate for a couple of weeks, thought I should become fitter and healthier. Not that I ever had a high fat diet, (sugar is another matter) but just giving up snacks and processed sugary food has made me feel a whole lot better. Unfortunately I do crave sweet things.

The secret to life is moderation. Don't cut sweets entirely out of your diet or your craving will increase exponentially - at least that's what I find. So instead make a compromise. If you like chocolate a lot go get some ghiradelli squares. They're high quality chocolate (well not super, but a heck of a lot better than the stuff you'll find at the checkout) with really good flavor and nice small portions. Let yourself have one every day or other day, etc, to satisfy the sweet craving. They're fairly low cal - like 50cal each - and REAALLLY taste yummy.
