I've been so excited about the upcoming ski season that I've started thinking about my goals. I noticed you ladies had a goal thread from last season, so check out how you did and post your new goals for this season!!

https://www.theskidiva.com/forums/showthread.php?t=464&highlight=goals

My goals for '07-'08:
  • Ski at least once a week from November until June
  • Tour at least one day a week
  • Squeeze in at least one dawn patrol
  • Pass all of my classes!
  • Ski/tour with someone new
  • Stay fit and injury free
  • Learn how to do a decent tele turn
  • Suck it up and do at least one powder day on tele gear
  • (This may be a longshot) Enter and finish the Wasatch PowderKeg randonee race in March!

Right now I'm thinking:
- Stay out of the back seat
- Get my arms under control on harder ungroomed stuff
- Learn to railslide :smile:
- Ski the main baldy chute

Took a look at my last season goals, and they're pretty much the same for '07-'08:

1) Ski with more Divas;
2) Get through the season uninjured;
3) Ski at least as much as I did last year (51 days);
4) Improve my mogul skiing!!!!!!!!
5) Get to at least one new area -- already in the cards, with my trip to Solitude.

Technical:

* First and foremost, stay injury free. Then I'll be in good position to work on the rest of the list.
* Master that elusive fore-aft balance. That should give me a good base to work on the other specialities.
* Powder & steep with confidence and ease. (that would require some luck with the weather)
* Bumps with grace and style (if I don't get the cooperation of the powder god)

Non-technical:

* Minimum of TWO fly away trips. One in Europe. :D
* Ski with Snowheads, Bears & Divas, at the minimum one of each. :smile:
* At least ONE backcountry tour?
* Quebec!

I'm not nearly as concern about the number of days skied, as long as I get a chunk of contiguious days to ensure good improvement and enjoyment. I'd rather make sure I have quality snow than just quantity of ski hours... Also saved money for expensive destinations, too. ;)

Ski more days (severance should make it possible) including more midweek!

At least 3 new ski areas (currently have 46) - plans are Suicide 6, Middlebury Snowbowl, and (Windham, Belleayre or Hunter), maybe Camelback

Ski 1-2 new states (prob NY, maybe PA)

Take another 3-day WAA clinic

Top three desires for my skiing in 08!

I want to get out to Colorado at least twice
I want to become accomplished in the bumps.
I want to complete the 360 I started working on last year.

1) No injuries
2) Ski a lot more days and make the time in my schedule for it (get my priorities straight!)
3) Enjoy every second of time skiing -- feel the snow, see the beauty all around, fully experience every feeling
4) Treat myself to more lessons and/or a women's ski camp
5) Ski trip(s) outside of Tahoe; check out one or more resorts in Utah/Colorado (other than Park City/Deer Valley).
6) Learn to ski bumps; move on to steeper trails
7) Get more exposure/comfort with powder skiing
I am thinking of treating this next season as a "Ski like there's no tomorrow season" where I get to spend something closer to the amount of time I'd like to skiing and where I don't worry about spending money but instead treat myself to new ski experiences(resorts), opportunties to learn and improve....in short, I get this next season to re-set my priorities (this is my goal anyway).

i. Get boots punched out so I don't lose any toenails this winter! :rolleyes:
ii. New skis
iii. Everything comes back to the boots, without the boots crippling me I hope I'll have the confidence to do everything better because I'll be able to feel my feet. :doh:

1. buy new boots with more forward flex

2. :race: get appreciably faster in the gates, which should show up in an advance to a higher category in each of my two race leagues.....
This will happen if I do three things, I think:
a. consistently get my weight more forward,
b. look down the hill rather than at the immediate gate,
c. both of which should help me to eliminate much of my skidding which slows me down

3. get better at bumps, should it snow enough to form bumps here

4. avoid putting on the usual winter weight gain of 10 lbs due to excessive eating while on the road to ski!!!

In the past my goal was always more vertical feet and more days than the year before, in addition to adding more trails to my "I can do it" list at my home mountain. But after a severe injury last season, my goal is 1) not to get hurt, 2) stop skiing early on spring days when the snow gets sticky (get my butt out of bed earlier to compensate), 3) at least get my "million" in for vertical, but not worrying about going beyond that this year, and 4) be able to resume skiing at the level I was at before my injury -- that may be a challenge and I am working hard at my PT to recover.

Oh BB, I feel your pain! I finally put down the big bucks last year for some new boots and custom footbeds/fitting, and what a huge difference! I don't lose toenails, my feet stay warm, and I'm actually in control of my skis all of the time.

IMO, skip the new skis if you have to - BUY NEW BOOTS.

Sib, I keep hearing references to your big bo-bo, and evidently others know about it too. What happened? (IF you care to resurrect it....) A thread reference to wherever it's been discussed would be great, if you don't wanna relive the whole thing.)

Sorry to hear about your season of yuk, and best wishes to you in recovering fully this season. If you need support as you venture back out, Divas is the place to be!
