Jacob over at Ski Talk is asking for help on his glove issue....any ideas? @geargrrl ?

"I've got a pair of leather gloves with the velvet(ish) layer on the thumbs (snot wipes). The leather on the gloves is in excellent condition, but that velvet(ish) material is breaking down and flaking off. So, I'm looking for ideas beyond duct tape.

My first thought was to get some sort of rubbery adhesive like shoe goo and just brush on a thin layer, but I'm curious if anyone else has a better solution."

And he's from Hawaii...

If he's okay losing that texture and just making it look better, I'd recommend Angelus leather paint. I've used it to fix up faux leather shoes that were cracked and flaking. I tried to use shoe goo to fix the edge of a purse strap, and it just didn't adhere very well.

If a local craft store carries it, Angelus is usually pretty cheap for a small bottle. It's important to read the instructions on their website for how to prepare the surface for the best paint adhesion. It may not last terribly long depending on usage, but it's easy to touch up as needed.
