Found my soulmate ski at demo days?

Does anyone else feel that demoing skis is kind of like dating? I've been demoing various intermediate (plus or minus) level skis to try to feel that "magic" that'll tell me that this ski is the one. I think I've found it: The Rossi Attraxion V in a 154. This is the second time I've demoed them and there was a big smile on my face both times. I don't really understand why I like these skis. Is it because they're stiff? The 74mm waist? Are they lively??? Are they damp?? I don't know exactly, I'm still new to all of this. It's hard to articulate. They're just really really fun skis. They are solid and kind of heavy. They're good in soft stuff and on ice. They feel like driving an SUV. I feel confident and secure on them. They go very fast and I get very daring and aggressive on them. They just feel "right".

Other skis had attactive aspects to them, but left me wanting more. Some others that I tried today that were OK were the Attraxion III (fun, stable, but not as exciting as the V) Salomon Topaz (it held a nice carving edge but the topsheet made me nauseated and I wouldn't be able to live with it), Head Everythang (I didn't think this ski was anything special, just ok all around) and K2 trueluv (they didn't have the OneLuv to demo and I thought the trueluv was too soft and light, I kept thinking my skis had fallen off, but I liked the way they were so easy to turn.)

In the end, it was the Attraxion V that had the fun factor I was happiest with and didn't want to give back at the demo tent. I want to go out and buy a pair, but I still wonder if I should try the Atomic Royal Minx first since they also sound like a lot of fun. But then I'll feel like I'm being unfaithful to the Attraxion! I felt the magic but I'm still curious about playing the field!

HAHA, I am one of the most fickle people when it comes to skis.
Right now my idea quiver is a Nordica, Blizzard, and Elan.
But most of the time, the Blue house is on my feet. That ski has been way too much fun!
As Robyn said, I am not a rossi fan, but at the same time I recognize that there are properties in a rossi that I find flat, that may make someone else grin.

I hate to say it, but I think you should buy the attraxion.
Reason...................you knew it when you skied it!

If they make you grin, go for it. I can't imagine a better sign of ski love than not wanting to give it back. Besides, buying it doesn't necessarily mean you won't be buying others. Think quiver :D

hmac and Robyn what are your stats? I'm leaning towards the Attraxion V's too but not sure what size would be best for me. I'm 5'3" and 125-130 lbs (depends if it's been a chocolate week or not!! ) There are a couple of other skis I still want to try out but I'm getting really anxious to buy a pair. I don't know if I can hold out much longer!

And I totally agree it's like dating! "Is this the right one? Is this?? No wait these ones..."

My bf makes fun of me just trying to decide what to eat off of a menu at a chain restaurant, never mind an expensive purchase like skis!

hmac, where were the demo today. Are they there tomorrow too. If the Attraxion V's made you smile, don't worry about the Atomics. There is suppose to be another Rossi demo day sometime. So hopefully I can try them again. They're not the ski for me, but that doesn't mean they aren't right for you. Esef is looking for the skis too, that's why I asked where and when. She's is the same area as you.

I'm 5'5" and (much to my dismay about) 200 lbs. I ski the 162. At some point I want a fat ski as well because they're not great for powder skiing (not bad but not great).

I'm on the big brother - Z5. 5'4, 165# advanced skier. I ski the 154. The V's that I tried were 154 too.

And on that Salomon, next years is mucho better. Completely different. Very classy actually. Same ski underneath. The thing is that maybe nobody in their right mind would want to steal the 2008 version. So maybe its a theft deterrant?

My stats are: 37 years old, 5'7 and a bit", 155 pounds. The attraxion V's at 154 are on the short side for me, I think, but I think in this particular ski it works well because they are a bit stiff. I demo'd the Tommy and Lefebvre tent at Camp Fortune today. They'll be a Mont Ste Marie tomorrow but it's supposed to rain in the afternoon.

Thanks ladies!!

I've demoed the 154's (also with T and L) and liked the smooth feel of them. When I returned them to the tent and suggested to the guys there that I thought I should try the 146 they said it wouldn't be much different of a feel. So they put me on some other ski instead. What do boys know?

I think I'm going to wait until next weekend. T and L are at Calabogie, not far from me and hopefully NO RAIN!!!

hmac, you might want to try the longer version. Your height can take it! Calabogie next weekend - ah, I'm trying for Tremblant again. They had Atomic and Salomon today from what I saw on the webcam. Saturday Zoo though. Kinda glad I was sick!

Also to add some fuel to the discussion. I heard that Salomon will be at Camp Fortune Monday throught T & L. Our shop owner was invited to join in.

It's Reading Week for most Ontario universities, not to mention Ontario's new "family day" Monday. That might the cause of the zoo-like experience at Tremblant.

Hope you're feeling better Jilly! From the sounds of Env. Can. tomorrow might be a good day to rest up.

And its American President's week. Also Tremblant gets alot of Brits this week and next. The next 2 weeks are busy up there. Then Quebec week 1, then Ontario, then Mexico. It's the busy season. I'm going up the last week of March for a course.
