Folding Ski Poles

Hi,
This might sound very bizarre, but I love to ski without poles. I only use poles on flat surface or on moguls. But I like to go without poles on half pipes and jumps. I was wondering if there are folding poles available that I can carry with me in a backpack and unfold them when I want to use them. There are patents out there for these poles, but I am not sure if these are actually available.

If there are any gals out there who like to ski without poles sometimes, please share your ideas.

Thanks,

Cheers,

Skiquest =)

I love using my poles...but then again, you don't find me in half pipes..or terrain parks at all!

Actually, that's a lie. I'll go into terrain parks to take pictures of friends.:clap:

A lot of the touring poles are either collapsable or foldable -- like Leki. I'm not a tourer, so I'm not sure if there is a difference in durability, construction, weight, and what impact that may have. Other women here do spend time in the backcountry, so they can speak more intelligently about the subject. I'm still using poles from the 1980s!

There are lots of adjustable poles out there that would work lilke that, made for backcountry touring purposes. Just check the reviews on what you're getting - some of the systems can slip. I've heard good things about Black Diamond's poles lately though, so that might be a good place to start.
