Ski Diva Extraordinaire
So I just have to review these skis! After all the shenanigans MSL and I went through to get them, it's about time I let you all know what they're like.
About me: I began skiing in earnest last year. I am 5'2" 150-155lbs and physically very strong. I have progressed from skiing all green/blue to all blue and some black (even did my first moguls and glade runs 2 weeks ago). I like moving with confidence but found my Rossi Saphir Snows at 150cm were just not enough ski for me anymore (although they were a perfect ski to learn on and I loved them while for that!). I knew I was ready for a stronger, more stable ski in order to progress.
About the Fischer Vision 76:
I bought these sight unseen and un-demo'd on overstock.com for about $900 less than regular retail so I would have been crazy not to get 'em. I figured worst case scenario, I turn around and resell the skis and don't lose any money.
I picked them up from MSL on Wednesday and it was love at first sight - these are hot-looking skis! Shiny silver and gold tones, wide shovel and 76mm underfoot! Great texture on the topsheet and sturdy looking bindings.
But, like so many of my earlier loves, would these prove to be all flash and no subtance? Or even worse...would they just overpower me? I knew I'd have to find out sometime so with some trepidation I took them out yesterday at Sunday River Maine (you know, where it RAINED all day Monday meaning ICY slopes!)
I started out at Southridge on a gently sloping, short green run. "Wow," I thought, "these turn nicely. Probably just the well-groomed slope". Next, up to a nice long cruiser - snow had been made the night before and not groomed so chewed up and drifted slop. "Great," I grumbled to myself, "I really wanted to test these out on something well-groomed and EASY!"
Oh, sweet heaven! These babies cruised through that slop like my favourite chef's knife. I barely dropped my ankle and they responded like an explosion. Next stop a real test!
I chose a run that had been icy, scraped up and always a thorn in my side....I started out and cut through the crud like an ice breaker. These puppies actually carve on ice! And do they hold an edge? You bet your sweet Aunt Sally they do!
Remember the line in "Pretty Woman" when Julia Roberts says of the Lotus "This baby corners like it's on rails"? That's the Fischer Vision 76. On these, from the top of my head to the hardpack under me, I was one moving, flowing, connected unit.
I am in love.
If I could, I would marry these skis.
The Vi76 is tough, heavy and made for a woman. DH looked at them and said "Too long, too heavy and too aggressive" I looked at him and said "Keep up"
Bottom line - these are skis made for a woman like me - stubborn, strong and always looking forward.
Double blacks here I come!!!!

Yeah, they sure were purdy skis, sitting in my house awaiting rightful "claimant!" Great review, AQ -- and add another Fischer fan to the club: DH and I did demos tonight, and the Fischers he demo'd (I've forgotten model right now) were his pick of the evening. The comment: "Yeah, Fischer sure has the edge hold all figured out." That from an expert.
YOU GO, GIRL!
