Fischer Vision 70 review

I finally have my new Fischer Vision 70 and thought it was time to share. This ski is AWESOME. I fell in love with it the first time I demoed it. I demoed it on a whim, my husband and I were bored so we went in to our ski area's little demo center and each got a pair of skis to try. I took the Vision 70 because it was so short a 146cm with 10 meter radius, my husband wanted to see if I could do circles on them. I was not expecting to fall in love with this ski.

My ski backround: I have been a ski instructor for 25 years and I demand a lot from my skis. I like a good snappy lively slalom ski that is also well behaved. I guess I would have to say I like my skis like I like my horses, well trained, well behaved, and very hot at the same time.

Demo day one: Conditions were nice groomed powder. I was impressed, they were very easy to turn, smooth, and stable even though they were short for me. After I returned them I could not get them out of my head so I tried them again.

Demo Day 2: Conditions, it was 2 days after the big Nor'Easter at night and all the powder was beaten up. This ski did not fail me again. It loved the beaten up powder. Again it turned very easliy and was so smooth even in the rough conditions. I skied it for 2 hours and was never tired. I was hooked and had to buy them. I bought them in a 152cm with an 11 meter radius.

Day 3 on the new 152cm: All you East coast divas you will know these conditions. Conditions for my new skis: Solid Bullet Proof Ice, what I like to call, "GOOD EASTERN HARD PACK"!! The kind you get when it is 40 and sunny during the day an drops to 20 at night. I skied at night. I did not know what to expect. I was amazed at this ski again. This ski held on ice like nothing I have skied on in years. It still turned very easily and just held with very little effort. I skied for 2 hours and enjoyed myself!!! I had none of that beaten up feeling we tend to get in our legs and feet when we ski on snow that hard.

Day 4: The next morning the whole place was groomed, mostly nice groomed granular, but because it was so hard the night before there were some places that there were golf balls. It was nice to ski on nice snow finally on the right length for me. I loved it. Again it just turns so easily and smoothy. This ski tracks beautifully, you can really ride the rails. As far as any golf balls I encountered it just went right over them like they were'nt even there. I could make this ski rip around at high speeds and slow it down and just cruise. It just keeps going.

As the day progressed it began to snow very hard, heavy wet snow. We had about 6 inches in less than an hour and it just kept snowing. It snowed hard enough that I had to clean my goggles ever 3 turns. Again the ski just kept going, still turning very easily, smooth and stable. The ski was not bothered at all by the big clumps of wet snow. I was amazed. It was effortless skiing. I found some untracked snow and took them into it and they just kept turning with ease.

I skied on every trail from green circles to black diamonds and it performed great on all the trails. It was so user friendly on everything. I loved it on the steeps, it just tracks so well you don't have to work hard at all on steeps it just keeps turning with ease.

I have had complete effortless control in every condition I have skied this ski in so far. If you are looking for a ski that is easy to turn, tracks well, is smooth, stable, plows through anything, and holds GREAT on ice I highly recommend this ski. It is snappy and lively enough for any advanced skier and yet tame enough for any intermediate to feel totally at ease on and also be able to learn a lot on. This is just a nice fun all around ski that you can ski on all day and not ever have to fight with it. I am not easily impressed by a ski but this one has impressed me. I always ski as many skis as I can at our demo day and this is the first ski that has grabbed my attention in a few years. The other great thing about this ski is that you can find it for $299.99 with bindings on the internet right now.

It comes in a 146cm with a 10 meter radius, a 152cm with an 11 meter radius, and a 158cm with a 12 meter radius.

If you have any questions let me know.

Fischer Vision 70: New conditions update

I skied my Fischer Vision 70 the last 3 days on new conditions.

Satuday and Sunday conditions were perfect groomed packed powder, the kind you can really set an edge in. This ski Rocks!! It holds beautifully, is fast, smooth and stable at high speeds. It is a slalom ski so be ready to keep up if you ask it for speed. You can really ride the rails and load your inside ski. It still turns very easily. I had a blast!!

Monday night conditions were powder. Yes we had nice soft powder in NY, about 10 inches! I skied at night so it was beaten up but still soft. The ski was a star again. It just floats through the powder and turns so easily. You can just ski with out any effort in powder. I loved the fact that I could really load the inside in the powder it made for a fun and controlled ride in the powder. This is NY so there were patches of ice here and there. Normally, east coast divas you know this, we just slide across ice when skiing powder because we ski a soft edge but this ski holds so well on a soft edge that I never slid at all when I hit ice patches. The ski just holds even on a soft edge. I had a blast AGAIN!!!! We skied 3 hours and closed the place!!

I LOVE THIS SKI!! I am still being impressed by this ski. It is just a fun and enjoyable ride. I wish I could go to Park City this year, I want to take this ski out there now!! I am not saying that this is a deep powder ski but it is a nice all around ski. If you are looking for one ski that you can ski on in most conditions, from ICE to powder, this is a good choice. I have yet to find something is does not like. My hat is off to Fischer on this one, they did a nice job.

I will update if I get to ski in spring conditions in March.

Fischer Vision 70

Jilly,
HAVE FUN!!! I hope that Fischer only changed the name because this ski is AWESOME!! If you can remember what length and radius the ski was I might be able to figure out which Vision series ski it is.

I noticed that alot of the companies had gone away from numbering the ski series. Rush 8, Rush 10 etc. They named them instead. Rossi changed the Bandits to numbers relating to waist width B74 instead of ?
I can't wait to try that Breeze again. The R word is in the forecast around here for the weekend, but not at Tremblant.

Great review! I was just at the ski store and the guy there showed me this ski, saying what a great ski it is . We tend to hear more about Solomon, K2, Rossi, etc., so I was eager to get home and check the board to see if there was a review for this ski. The ones that I looked at were the Vision 73.... it is a few hundred bucks cheaper than other comparable skis.
I look forward to hearing more from you about these new and wonderful skis !!

I have not skied the Vision 73. I know that the Vision 73 is 1 meter radius bigger in each of the lengths than the Vision 70. The Vision 70 in a 152cm is an 11 meter radius and the Vision 73 in a 152cm is a 12 meter radius. I still LOVE my Vision 70. I skied them Tuesday night on nice snow and it was fast. The ski rocked again!! They like to go fast!!

Your review's got me really wanting to try em out, skigirl. How do you think they'd do for a level 6ish midwest skier?

It is a very nice ski that I think most skiers will really enjoy. You can have a lot of fun on this ski and not have to work hard to ski it!!

I am sorry that I left out in my reports about the different turn sizes this ski will do. This ski will do very short, short swing turns, right down the fall line and then you can blow it out into big sweeping S turns and everything in between. I like a ski that will do a variety of turn sizes because you never know when you are going to have to do a human slalom!! LOL!!

What a great sounding ski! Do those of you who have skiied the Fischer 70 think it would be a good ski for a 56 yr old who wants to Love skiing again? A little background: Learned to ski when I was 27, at Alpine Valley in lower Mi. After kids, skiing became a once a year thing at Schuss for many, many years. I could ski most everything there without breaking my neck. Fast forward to present: the last two years I have not enjoyed skiing. I felt like I was always fighting my equipment. I am on 170 Salomon exendo's that are 10 years old, and my boots were too big (packed out, rear entry). Year before last year, I got desperate and bought new boots at Schuss, and they were fine for a couple days then pain set in on my shins. Last year tried them again, pain was terrible and no matter what they tried, it just got worse. Hmmmm... wonder why I didn't enjoy skiing any more! So, I found this wonderful forum and am getting excited about skiing again. Found a boot fitter in Ann Arbor and have purchased new Technica Flames and am now looking to demo skis. So, open to suggestions. I'm 5'1", 120#, and not as aggressive as I used to be, so I guess you'd say I'm kinda a laid back skier at this point and just want to enjoy myself.

Thanks, GoldN

It is a very nice ski. I think you will like it a lot. It will be a nice ski to learn the new technlogoy on too because it is very forgiving and easy to turn. You will be happy on the 152cm at your height and weight.

Review in soft mashed potatoes

Review update. Conditions soft mashed potatoes, nice spring skiing, sun shine and 40 degrees. I had fun again!! My Fischer Vision 70 had no issues in the soft mashed potatoes they just turned very nicely and easily. The ski was not pulled or tossed around at all, it just plowed right through it. I really like how this ski allows me to load the inside ski in less than perfect conditions, this allows for so much control and keeps me from getting tired quickly. I also love the short turn radius in less than perfect conditions for the same reason, control. When you put the 2 together, loading the inside ski and the short turn radius, you can really control your speed in those less than perfect condtions and really enjoy your day of skiing. I am still impressed with this ski and I am looking forward to spring skiing!! If you have any questions let me know.

So happy w/ my new Fisher Vision 70s!!

:p I purchased the Fischer Vision 70s last month and I couldn't be more happy with them. They do go fast! I love the sharp turns I can make on demand. I am so with you Skigirl on slaloming people on the slopes;) The first time I took them out I thought I would ski for a few hours. Let me tell you gals, if you buy/demo these skis you WILL want to SKI the WHOLE DAY like I did from morning till night (and hopefully where you go will offer night skiing). I went skiing the weekend I bought them and skied 2 days in a row. I thought I would be sore the morning after my first day with them. But I was so excited I went to a diff ski area and it only gave me more confidence in my skiing abilities. I went faster. Skied some diamonds.

Skiing was perfect!!! Great fun for picking up speed on the easies to holding well on those steep diamonds! I was a little cautious on the first day I skied on them and kept my speed not too fast or fast in short spurts but by the next day I did every single trail and much faster and the diamonds too. These skis will get your adrenaline pumping and def have made me a better more confident skier. I can't wait to try them out this coming weekend in VT. Will let you know how it goes.

Chow!
