Fischer Vision 70 and a few questions about buying without demoing

I know these skis have a few owners on the board. Anyone buy them without demoing? How'd that work out? What kind of skier do you think they're good for? Was anyone disappointed with this ski? Is there a kind of skier that you think should stay away from them?

I'm a midwestern intermediate skier without much ski time under my belt. 06/07 was my first season, and it had an early end due to injury. I'm in the market for new skis, but I hadn't gotten around to demoing before my season ended, and the end of season deals are quite tempting. I've read the glowing reviews of the Vision 70 and found a good deal on them and I'm trying to figure out if I should grab them.

Also, for anyone who bought any skis without demoing them and didn't like them- how did reselling work out? Any tips? How much of a return are you likely to get on skis you bought and skied one day on and found that they weren't for you?

I bought a pair of Volkl Queen Attivas last month without demoing them, and I won't ski them til next season. The price was just too good to pass up. Even still, I have mixed feelings about the process. I tell myself I'll just sell them if I hate them -- though I hope that's not the case. Hey, if it's not, I got myself a real deal!

Sometimes you just have to close your eyes and hope for the best. :o

BTW, the reviews of the Fischer Vision 70s are really good. I got myself a pair of the 73s on close out at an end of season sale (half off!). Only skied them a couple times, but so far, so good!

Ditto for me. I bought a pair of Solomon Scarlets at the end of the season at a great price after reading extensive reviews and concluding that it was the powder ski for me. I didn't find a shop that demo'd them anywhere. Hope I like them! (they look extremely cool)

I am probably going to replace my Kaya twin tips (and try to sell them on this site -- have sold 2 pr. of skis so far!) with Mynx skis for a number of reasons, and won't have the ability to demo the Mynx skis first. It's hard to find twin tip demos because too many kids trash them on ther rails, at least that's what I've been told, but given their growing popularity, maybe more demos will be available.

To sell my skis, I have priced them very low. Both of my buyers were pleased!

So, to conclude, I would say demo and when you can't, research, talk to knowledgeable ski folk, read reviews, and get the skis at a great price!

I was not able to demo my Vision 73's, and bought them off ebay and had them shipped to Canada....friends thought I was crazy! They arrived in perfect condition and I skied them last week in spring conditions and had a blast ! The quality of this ski is awesome for the price that you can get them at online. If you do decided to buy, I don't think you will be disappointed. I certainly got a lot of good advice and researched my purchase before I bought them.
Skigirl has a lot of good things to say about them in her review.
Good luck!

Well, I jumped the gun! I just ordered them now, from www.skiersoutlet.com 279 shipped. They also had some great deals on the Vision 76, Kaya and the Queen Attiva with free shipping on all of em, if anyone's looking.

The guy said that they missed the cutoff to ship today, but would go out tomorrow, and since they're in Wisconsin they usually make it to Chicago in a day. Not sure why I'm in such a rush to get them, as it'll be another 5 months at least before I'll be skiing them, but I'm still very excited. Way too excited. :D

Yep. They're actually sharing the bed with me at the moment. I'm sooo dreaming about a southern hemisphere trip this summer. Not an option, but in the meantime I may end up getting some plush carpeting to cushion the bottom of my apartment building stairs as a runout. Big mistake on the landlords' part, having carpeted stairs in my building :D
