Reviewer: Age 54; advanced intermediate/low advanced. 5'5" 175 lbs
Length tested: 152 and 158 cm
Terrain tested on: groomed green only! But I pushed 'em hard in the steeper parts.
MSRP: $650. Price I paid: $320. Lowest internet price currently: $280. I bought locally in order to have service.
Sideut: 117-70-104
Turn radius: 11 at 152 cm; 12 at 158 cm.
The reason I only tested these on green terrain was (1) it was a VERY warm day and there would only be decent snow for the first hour (2) I wanted to get in 8-10 comparative runs to select the right length (3) therefore I had to ski short trails. Sorry about the lack of data on blue and black; you will find that elsewhere in this forum.
In the correct length (which for me is 158 cm), these skis did everything well: long carved turns; short turns on steeper pitches; plowing through piles of snow; soft snow. They felt very stable going through piles of sugar. I got them going as fast as I could on that limited terrain and they felt very solid.
In the shorter ski, the only thing they did well was snappy short turns. But the longer ski lost very little pep in the short turns.
This seems like an excellent ski for the price. I took the ski to a competing, non-Fischer shop and the salesperson seemed very impressed and said he couldn't match the quality at that price in any of the brands they carried, inluding the Volkl Attiva AC2, a comparable ski that had been my first choice.
ALSO COMPARED THESE SKIS TO:
Fischer Vision 73, 158 cm. I didn't like this ski. It was just too stiff for me. It felt identical to my current Head Lightnings that I'm replacing. Might be good for a true advanced skier on steep terrain.
Sorry this review isn't more complete---I really just wanted to validate the great reviews that others in this forum have given this ski. It seems to be working well for women who ski better than I do, and I'm convinced it will work for me at my level AND help me move up a level.
Thanks to all who steered me toward this ski! I didn't even know I was on the wrong ski until I started reading your reviews here. I think the Vision 70 will work much better for me than my current ski, which was holding me back from progressing because it was too stiff and heavy.
