Favorite piece of equipment (other than skis or boots)

I know mine: last year I picked up boot bag I can carry on my back. I used to hoist my skis over my right shoulder and steady them with my right arm, while I carried my boots and helmet with my left. By the time I'd hike from my car to the lodge, my left wrist would feel like it was going to break off (those boots are heavy!).

So I found this great boot bag, with enough room to carry not just my boots, but my helmet, googles, and anything else I needed for a day on the slopes. And since it works like a backpack, my wrist didn't kill me all winter. To me, that's a big improvement.

I wish I'd found it sooner, but I guess I'm glad I found it at last. I don't think a day went by when I wasn't thrilled to have it.

Anyway, if you're looking for a better way to carry your stuff, I highly recommend it.

My favorite piece of ski geer other than my skis, boots,...hmmm, let me think...

I guess that would have to be my ski carrying strap that goes over my shoulder so I can carry my skis hand free. It does not effect the ability to fit the skis into the carriers on area transports either.

ABSOLUTELY my helmet -- it took a little getting used to, but now I don't feel like I'm really ready for a day on the slopes unless I'm wearing it. it's partially psychological -- I'm more willing to take a few risks -- but it's also such a crucial move for your safety. (do you ladies wear helmets?)

my ski pass for cleaning off icing and glazing of my goggles!!

Also for getting on the lift!

One of my favorite pieces of equipment, too.

I sure do!

As for my favorite equipment, I guess I'd have to say my poles.

Well, not really. I got the cheapest ones I could find after I bent one a couple of years back. What's with the pricey poles, anyhow? Am I missing something?

Helmet? YES! Without a doubt, one of the most valuable pieces of equipment I use.

As for my favorite............this is more difficult to answer that I would have expected. I must say, it's my camera!

Say cheese!:D

My two ski passes, which get me access to Vail, Beaver Creek, Keystone, A-Basin, and Breck as well as Copper and Winter Park (and discounts at all the Aspen Resorts). :D

Other than that, I'd say my homemade boot strap (old webbing from my climbing days) that I use to drop my boots over my backpack at the end of the day, so they dangle down on either side of the pack, and I can carry them hands-free while I am apres-ing or picking up toddlers or whatever.

OR

My Cloudveil Zero-G jacket, which is the first insulated jacket I have owned in a loooooong time, and rocks (which is to say it looks good and feels good), except on the really warm, bluebird CO days, when I go back to the land of layering and shells. . .

I'm going to go for the boot pack too. I bought one on sale last winter - it had a big skull on it and I covered that with black Rustoleum and then spraypainted my name over the black spot. Now I can lug the heavy demons from the car to the lodge hands free, no pain in the shoulders any more. Love it!

Got one of those gear backpack too. It holds so much!! But I'd have to say a helmet too. I've got the Salomon ladies with the furry ears. Other than than my "bandit". It's a fleece and "commander cloth" triangle that fits in my jacket and can be used to cover mouth and nose. And skiing at 20 below C - Tremblant, its a must!

My favourite piece of equipt (other than the pair of pink HH pants that I bought last North American season and my now trashed skis) has got to be my ruk-sak/ back pack... I carry it everywhere with me over the winter seasons.

I'm beginning to think I need a pack when I ski bigger hills that Michigan offers.

If you have any kind of a walk from the car to the lodge, and you don't want to wear absolutely everything you need for skiing (goggles, helmet, glove liners, etc), and you can't fit a lot of stuff in your pockets and don't want it all dangling from you like a clothes line, then yes, you may need one. Just makes life easier.

Also use it to carry my lunch, which I always bring since it's better than on-mountain food.

I have a Transpack. LOVE it. It's really easy to carry because it's a backpack, and it's roomy, too.

After years of unhappiness with ski gloves, especially since moving to New England (try January up here....), I finally found gloves (not a mitten fan unless it's below zero) that WORK. Scott Fuels. Usually available at an unbelievable $30, often on sale for less, and absolutely the best gloves for this climate I've ever had. What a relief. My long search ended in 06-07. Now I stockpile them.

Just one? I'm pretty sure that if you checked my purse/diaperbag right now, you would find *at least* 4! :becky:

I love my goggles. (Spy Soldiers)

It was hard to find a pair that fit over my glasses, but were still small enough to fit my face. Those OTG goggles are all so huge!
