Favorite name for a run

Mine is a local run called "Horror Hill". I find it hilarious in so many ways, particularly when I'm taking someone down it for the first time and I say the name really fast. It sounds like something, er, else! :ROTF:

What is the best name for a run that you've seen?

I really love "Possible" at Snowmass. It's easily a 45 degree narrow chute that often times is pretty skied off. (Catch it on a pow day & you're facing a slide.) Last weekend it was in GREAT condition.

But it's funny...the first time I approached it, looked over the cornice & I thought "yeah...it's Possible" The first time's a doozie! It then opens up into a big open bowl - lot's of times with nice pow stashes because many folks just don't go down it.

But it's a perfect name for that run.

Ooohh...yeah & another at Snowmass called: AMF

Not sure what it was supposed to stand for, but everyone here says "Adios MF" (or "my friend", for those with children):ROTF:

I like the name of a portion of the Riva Ridge run at Vail. It's a steep section that gets kinda iced up 'cause it's on the way back down to the main village. Unsuspecting skiers end up hitting this part of the run, slide out and go sliding down the slope on their butts. It looks harmless but is hysterical to see their surprised faces as their bodies are flung down the slope out of control. The run is called Tourist Trap.

"Oh My Jeezus" at Marble Mountain. Unfortunately, there were people who had a problem with that, so they changed the name to Blow Me Down OMJ.

Isn't there a "Bassackwards" at Snowbird? I think I have it right - named after Dick Bass, one of Snowbird's founders? Always liked that one.

don't forget the tunnel they blasted at Snowbird, as locals call the B*ss Hole (can I say that?)

Oh, yep, I like Tourist Trap at Vail as well!

And Parachute Chute in Spauling Bowl at Copper. It's the steepest point on Copper Mountain and almost looks like you need a parachute to make it down.

There is one of these at Sunday River, ME, as well. At same place, there is an intersection that instills fear even in me. 4 busy trails converge then split off in 4 separate ways. On a weekend or holiday, it can resemble an urban freeway doing a major merge/split. It is unofficially known as "clusterf**k corner." It can be a terrifying place.

All of Sugarloaf's (Maine) trails are named after different aspects of or equipment used in logging, as the region is steeped in logging history. My personal favorite for names is "Misery Whip." Sounds like S/M to me!

O'Chute a narrow narrow STEEP chute.....I'm guessing named after unsuspecting people screaming something entirely different as they found out the gentle slope at the top becomes a drop LOL.

I rather like "Otto Bahn" at Crystal Mt, WA. It's a long, very long, black-diamond cat track, that takes skiers/riders from the main part of the hill over to the new advanced/experts only chair on the far side of the hill. An outta-countrol highway is definitely what it feels like.

My favorite name for a trail at Sunday River is Lower Upper Cut. Tourist Trap used to be truer before snowmaking. At the end of the day it was all ice and widely separated piles of snow...and bodies. (The real name of the place designated clusteretc. is Grand Junction.)

I was happy to see the orange fences go up to separate t2 and funnel it into Cascades. (if still in place) Helps. Tourist Trap still produces bodies galore at end of day - the intersection w/L Sunday Punch and then who goes which way (lift 1? lodge? triple? Road Runner? and watch out for Rocking Chair and lower Cascades  ) The whole thing makes me sweat more than any run at the place (my favorite being the first Vortex headwall off Aludra).

But  to Lower Upper Cut - that oxymoron always made me smile. The name Blind Ambition always gave me some pause!

Mr. NVG and I named all of our tables at our Wedding in December after ski runs in Vail:
Ours was "Forever"
Others:
Lover's Leap
Wow
Christmas
and I am drawing a blank on some others...

2 of Mr. NVG's favorite names are in Vail. He likes "Hair Bag Alley" and "O.S." (short for Oh..S*it!)

I like "Riva Ridge" because of the history behind the name, and now they have re-named one run "38" after President Ford. All in Vail...of course!

There is an Otto Bahn at Copper mountain as well that does the same thing, take you from a green run area over to blacks/double blacks.

"Outhouse" in Winter Park
"Drunken Frenchman" in Winter Park

...(yes....I'm complimeting runs in Winter Park....I know....Hell must be freezing over!) :becky:
