Favorite MTB Books?

Hey Ladies,

I have 3 mtb books at home that have really helped me along: a skills book, a maintenance book, and a Bay Area trail book. All circu 1996-1997

A couple gals I rode with the other day had just taken a private clinic from this guy, Lee McCormack, and had mentioned his book: "Mastering Mountain Bike Skills"

[ame="https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Mountain-Skills-Brian-Lopes/dp/0736056246/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1213804963&sr=1-1"]Amazon.com: Mastering Mountain Bike Skills: Brian Lopes, Lee McCormack: Books[/ame]

I was thinking of picking this up at the library to see if it's any good.

Do you have a favorite mtb book that has really helped you?

My first and most favorite repair book:
51XZRRCNZ1L._SS500_.jpg

Unfortunately, it was published in 1994 and is now quite dated, but I think it has been replaced by a 2004 edition by Chris Sidwells. Here's the link[ame="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/075130087X/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller="]Richards' Bicycle Repair[/ame].

The Collective (MTB, not the Borg)

Sweet, thanks ladies! So, apparently my local libraries are not bit supporters of MTB. So, I will probably order Lee's book from amazon when we pick our next book for book club and try for the free shipping. :becky:

I love the Warren Miller ski movies! :ski2: Who doesn't? It is a favorite tradition in preparing for the ski season! Now I find out that there is a similar tradition for MTB. The Collective has just put together their third film, "Seasons". Anyone seen their three mtb movies yet: The Collective, Roam, and Seasons?

Me watching the teasers:

Am I what they call a "gaper" in CO? I was just sitting there with my mouth hanging open, forgetting to blink, repeating, "Wow." Sadly, the local premier was back in April. But, maybe I'll be more informed next year!

Another vote here for Brian Lopes' book. We had to order it online, so I'm not surprised that the library didn't have it.

Actually, there's another showing of Seasons tonight up in Park City - so you're not too late!

It's AWESOME though. All the Collective movies are. We bought them all...

Order is in...

Thanks for the votes! My Amazon order is in for Mastering Mtb Skills! I read some pages online (as much as they would let me!) and I can't wait to dig into this!

PS. Dropping bikes off at the LBS tomorrow night for their tune-ups. Hope they can do something about DH's FD besides adjusting it AGAIN. I am secretly hoping they will claim it defunct and SRAM will replace it under warrenty.

This is a great book.

I have replaced everything on my bike apart from the frame, handle bars and stem using it and I was a complete noob at bike mainatentance before I bought it.

I haven't bought any skills books but I will look at the one posted above. I haven't bought this one but I went to a skills clinic run by the 2 girls who have written this book and they were excellent at explaining things and motivating you so it might be worth a look.
