Farmers Almanac Prediction!

Seems like those long range predictions are never right. We're owed a good winter, though -- especially here in the northeast!

I think it is true

I think there is some truth to the old notion that you can tell what kind of winter we are going to have by the behavior of the animals and insects. A huge amount of pika have reportedly been moving into mountain lodges etc already. This would indicate an early and bad ( in the good sense winter ) and after the ten years of drought we have endured in Montana, that will be a good thing. As long as we can all remember how to drive on snow, considerring we really haven't had anywhere close to normal for at around 7 years now...the past 3 have been like extended falls with a couple inches here and there. I am so excited. I even went out on a limb and bought powder skis. The farmers almanac called for a long cold winter in our area two winters ago, we were wearing t-shirts in January watching the grass grow. But don't let that discourage you, I think it's going to be a good winter this year regardless of any wives tales. :cheer: Unfortunately our need for snowpack goes well beyond skiing, our lack thereof has affected everything from native trout to water rights and irrigation. Not to mention those #@!% forrest fires and pine beetles uggh!
