Falling - how often?

I just watched a video of some people falling while skiing Mad River Glen. I SO identified with them.

So I'm wondering, how often do you fall, and what is your attitude when you do? Does it ruin your day? Do you almost never fall? Or do you, like me, fall at least once and maybe 3-4 times every day you ski? I have learned to laugh about it. I just keep trying new things, and to learn my limits I always go too far so falling is just part of the process. But there are people I ski with who almost never hit the snow and they consider it a personal failure if they do. But then they've been skiing a lot longer than I have.

How goes it with you?

There is that old adage - if you don't fall you're not trying hard enough. That said I usually do one good "yard sale" a year. One year it was the first run of the season. I sat there and laughed. A lady came up to me, "are you OK, that was some fall" All I said was "I'm glad we got that over with early". If I fall its usually my fault or some idiots!! But long as everyone is OK, its alright! Goes with the territory!!

I have to say that I don't fall that much. If I do, it's usually in the bumps. Or after I stop, for some reason. Once or twice a year I'll have a real doozey that's enough to leave me rattled. But in general, falling doesn't bother me too much. Hey, if you don't ski, you don't fall. And what's the fun in that?

I don't fall much either. Maybe I'm being too careful. I usually have one or two really good "yard sales" each year. Often when I fall it's stupid. It's usually something like when I'm on an easy run and I'm not paying attention and my tips cross, whatever.

If I fall when I am trying something new - or difficult (like a black bump run) then I am not embarrassed at all. I only get empbarrassed if I fall on an easy run and for stupid reasons.

I don't fall that often-but when I do it is big!! As long as I don't injure myself I don't care if I fall.

I don't fall much either. When I do it does not make me feel as if I have failed. The only thing that bothers me is that I still haven't learned to get up without taking off at least one ski! And it is not an issue of flexibility. I just don't get it.

I don't fall frequently, but when I do, I'm usually surrounded by a bunch of guys yelling out scores!

"I'd give you a perfect 10 but the take off was iffy!"
"8.5! If you'd lost both skis, I could give you more!"

Good friends huh?

I fall quite a bit. It used to frustrate me and make me angry, but now I just laugh it off and try to get up and going as quickly as possible. My husband hardly ever falls, but I'm pretty sure I push myself harder than he does.
