Facebook broken. For good?

@MissySki an acquaintance had the same thing for making sarcastic comment about his friend, obviously said in similar vein as your remark. I just commented on a FB photo where a clueless person was reaching out to touch a young buck in a forest or park, saying the idiot deserved to be gored but I wouldn't want the buck to be killed. Maybe I'll be banned for inciting violence, who TF knows.

I’m definitely hearing from others who have made similar remarks in jest and ended up in Facebook jail. Apparently saying anything should be burned down, regardless of context, gets you a time out.

I got put in facebook jail for a post regarding a trail in a mountain bike group...."I'd tell you but I'd have to kill you".... I suppose I should be glad the algorithms are working, right?

Haha I personally think it's all ridiculously too much with censorship right now.

I mean, the challenge IMO is that when it's an algorithm determining what's "ok" and "not ok" then you've already lost, right?

What we know is that the content is so bad that no human wants to do the job, so the algorithm is taking a ***** job and doing a ***** job.

So, people lose faith in the platform and the algorithm - and then FB has to detune the algorithm to avoid losing their product (our eyeballs) and then the content that's ****** - which we probably don't see/participate in - gets through.

The censorship is because half the people are more idiotic than average and so we all suffer because of the pervs/terrorists/cretins.

As one of my friends said last week, ugh, people.
:bolt:

ETA - I like that I used a synonym for crappy and it got hashed out. So I came here to giggle at the algorithm and replace the ###### with ***** so I wouldn't get in trouble.

I couldn't agree more, with all of it.

The funny part is other platforms like Twitter.. did you know people are over there posting full frontal nudity photos and full on porn movies????? I'm like, how the heck do things swing so far from one to another on this stuff? And WHY are people posting porn and allowed to post it on Twitter of all places? lol I tend to completely avoid Twitter overall, and had no idea what was happening there. It's all INSANE! I agree with keeping things to some degree of decorum, but the current algorithms just feel like too much. It's a big turn off.

I am on a fairly well locked down Twitter account with a tightly curated set of follows, but I totally was presented with porn the other day - someone had commented on something with it - and I just didn't need that.

Like, WHAT THE WHAT!?!?!?!?! I didn't even know that existed on there, and I didn't need to!

People are really gross. Thank goodness I have nice bubbles in which I can just enjoy my life.

That's exactly what happened to me and I was SHOCKED!!! I do find the comparison with how liberal they are in their content allowed and the way Facebook has gone to be funny though, talk about polar opposites.

I didn't get banned or jailed, but I got a slap on the wrist and a post removed. I reposted a sarcastic meme about Covid. The admonition was about posting "misinformation." Sheesh, I'm as against misinformation as the next girl, maybe more! I was fine after I cooled off. Better they can't understand sarcasm but continue to root out misinformation. If they actually do.

The worst part though is I see so many misinformation posts that never get taken down. I don’t understand how they get the well meaning people a lot lately, but somehow miss those others.

If you do something they don’t like a second time, that is likely when you’ll get put in time out btw. No 3 strikes rule on Facebook apparently lol.

I've read about a couple instances where someone landed in FB jail that made me laugh outloud. Someone I know write W O W and put a couple emojis like rainbows at a pretty photo posted on a national park website...and got kicked off FB for a day. What??

This is like “2001: A Space Oddesey.” The movie dramatized our fears that we would lose control of the computers and they would dominate us!

So apropos. I actually thought about watching that with the kids the other day so that they would have a healthy fear of ceding to machines.

No one tell CPS. ;)
