Exercise, Caffeine, and skin cancer

This from the Associated Press:

Folks who exercise for their health but avoid caffeine may be missing out on some skin cancer protection.

The combination of exercise and caffeine increased destruction of precancerous cells that had been damaged by the sun's ultraviolet-B radiation — in mice at least — according to a team of researchers at Rutgers University.

So everyone run to Starbucks!!! :D

I actually gave up caffeine about a year ago. Being of "a certain age" and experiencing some sleep interruptions, (and some irritability) I thought it might be a good idea to see if going caffeine-free would help.
It did.
I'm probably still getting some caffeine from my morning decaf, though.

I do get a bit annoyed with all the "studies du jour" that appear in my morning paper. If we collected them all over the years, I'm sure they would contradict each other many times over.

I guess it all boils down to common sense and what works for you.

Not telling you what form of "caffiene" they're talking about doesn't help.

I don't drink coffee, but I drink a bunch of green tea. That has some caffiene in it, which gives you the antioxidants without the jitteriness.

And I'm sure downing Red Bulls and sugary sodas (or worse yet - caffienated drinks with artificial sweeteners) isn't good for your health.

Coffee itself probably isn't bad for you in moderation. But, I know my husband pours in that nasty creamer stuff that's all hydrogenated fats and sugar. There's NO WAY that is making the antioxidant effect of the coffee benificial overall. Plus, I've noticed that stuff leaves a residue on all the coffee mugs and stuff in the dishwasher - if that gunk doesn't dissolve in detergent and super hot water, it really grosses me out thinking about actually ingesting it. Yuck.
