Looking for a good energy bar to take to the slopes. Anyone have any favorites to suggest?

Hey Wendy,

While I am not a big fan of energy bars I think one of the best ones on the market is the Balance Bar.In general I think they all have to much junk in them.Is this to tide you over till lunch or for a boost when you are feeling low?

I definitely like Zone bars, and the nice thing about them is that they come in smaller sizes. So there are the full bars and then the small bars which are 1/3rd the size. The smaller bars are just enough to curb those tummy grumbles until meal time without ruining my appetite or causing me to eat too much.

Just to tide me over. Sometimes I just want a snack, and I'd like something convenient that I can eat on the lift, but healthy, too.

Have you ever tried to eat a frozen energy bar? I would agree with Lola to on this one.Something without a huge amount of calories-like 200 or under to get you to lunch. But if you can how about a handflul of almonds, half of a peanut butter on whole wheat-if you can go in maybe a yogurt-whole foods that are better for you!

fueling your body is a good thing just be aware of what you put in it!!

I've always from that "energy bars" are too full of wasted calories. Your own trail mix is a better idea. Just like tcarey is saying. Check out a bulk food store for ideas. I get a mix at Costco, but I'm not sure if you would get the same thing in the States.
