If you found a screaming deal on a leftover demo ski, would you buy it? Even if it was a ski that overlapped one you already had in your quiver?

I did manage to take this ski out for a couple short runs when a friend had rented them for the day. (Nice we have the same boot sole length!) I don't NEED this ski, as I already have one about the same size. But I was totally impressed with the couple short runs I did take. The ski is shorter than I usually run, but oh the price is RIGHT!

What would the ski divas do?? :duck:

The ski shall remain anonymous so as not to influence the voting. :p
Awww, come on.....how about just a little teeny HINT??
How about.....what percentage off retail are these going for?
"Screaming deal" might be the major factor for me....having been known to do so in the past. Repeatedly.

Ok--little hint. These are a ski that Ski Diva has demo'd and liked.

Screaming deal-- it's a demo model, '08 graphics. Retail is around $1000, which includes the integrated binding. (Another hint).

Ski shop is selling these for $375.

Of course now that I'm stoked about buying them, they'll probably be gone next time I go in.

That is a screaming deal! If you can afford it, I'd say go for it!*

*unless they're beat up demos?

I'm thinking they have the same name as a suburb of Denver. If so, buy em!

If they make you smile and they fit into your budget...DO IT. You'll be mad at yourself later if you don't. There is always ebay, Craig's List and the Divas if you change your mind. :eyebrows:

:noidea: Are you thinking Aurora? If so, nope! I think the Volkl Aurora is new for this year.
This is an '07-'08 model that I'm looking at. Although the Aurora sounds interesting too...:eyebrows:

I don't think the skis are too beat up. I was just on them a couple weeks ago, and now they are off the demo rack and up for sale. (Probably because they are last year's model)

The skis are a 154cm, and I usually ski 160-165. But these were surprisingly stable for a shorter ski.

Yeah, I knew the Auroras were new, but then I thought that by '08 you were referring to the '08/'09 season.

Hmmmm. You have us all so curious!

(BTW, 154 IS my size............)

Yep, this is the ski, 154cm. A few weeks ago, we were out skiing with the other couple that we go with all the time. (Actually my husband's boss, and his wife.) "J" has a pair of K2 Phat Luvs, and it just wasn't a Phat Luv kind of day. Her other skis were in the shop. So, we went down to the demo area of the shop and I helped her pick out a ski to rent for the rest of the day. It came down to the Conquer or the Fuego, actually. She picked the Conquer, figuring she could always come back and swap out later if needed.

She really liked the Conquer, so I had to give it a try. As it turns out, we have the same boot sole length, so we swapped out skis for a couple runs. I took the Conquers, she took my Public Enemies. I was impressed. The Conquer is stable and smooth, regardless of snow type. Didn't matter whether it was cut up crud or hardpack or light powder. Transitioning from any surface was silky smooth. Very nice. I didn't get a chance to take them through any real bumps, but "J" did. She just bounced down to the bottom of a steep bump run, and then exclaimed that her legs weren't even tired!

As we were riding the lift last weekend, she said the skis were now in the shop, against the wall with a $375 price tag on them! Then we started debating who should buy them.

So the Conquer would overlap the K2 PE in my quiver, both are similar in tip/waist/tail. And it would be one more ski that I need to keep waxed and tuned.

I guess I'd better stock up on some more wax!
