Elan Fire Magic, Volkl Attiva Ac2 or K2 Tru Luv?

I would like to have your opinions about the Elan Fire Magic, the Volkl Attiva Ac2 and the K2 Tru Luv. I'm a beginner-intermediate skier who want to go farther. I surch for all mountain ski. I will soon be trying the Fire Magic 160 demo and the Attiva AC2 170 demo. The lenght is an other problem for me. I'm 5'10'' and I'm not that heavy (140lbs). I don't know if I would be better off with 160 cm or 168cm with the Elan Fire Magic and 163cm or 170cm with the Volkl Attiva AC2.

Thanks!

The AC2 is a fairly beefy ski..I demo'd the 163 and found it incredibly versatile and stable. Only rarely did I wish I'd been able to try the 170, and I'm a very heavy, hard charging skier. Go with the 163 on this one.

I recommend that you dmeo all of the skis you can. You should be looking at skis in the range of about a 160cm, weight is far more important than height. You are only a beginner/ intermediate so you don't want to get in over your head with too much ski. The most important thing you need to remember is that you will be skiing the ski all the time so get what makes you HAPPY, that is why I say demo as many skis as you can until you find the one you LOVE!! You will only get better if you are on a ski that you feel good on.

Hi Again. I was just at the websites for all of the skis you mentioned above. Here is what I just read. The Elan Fire Magic is a high end ski. You should look at the Elan wild spice or hot spice. The Elan hot spice at 160cm is a 14.1 meter radius ski and the wild spice at 160cm is a 14.4 meter radius ski. At that range you should be comfortable on the 160cm.
The K2 Tru luv at 160 cm is a13 meter radius, you will turn more than on the 14 meter radius. The K2 Sweet Luv at 160 cm is 14 meter radius.
The Volkl attiva AC2 may be too much ski. You may want to look at the Volkl Attiva Star at 163cm it is a 13.4 meter radius.
Each of these skis will ski very differently so please like I said before DEMO. Go to each of the websites for the above brands and you can read about what level each of the skis is rated for. I have not seen you ski so it is hard for me to say what level skier you are but since you say you are a beginner to intermediate I am going by what the websites say are the right skis for you. If you have any questions let me know. Where do you ski, East or West?

I've been on the Fire Magic. According to the rep its the ladies version of the MagFire 8. So its softer than the 8. I think I'd have to agreed with skigirl, you may want to go down to the Spice range. As for the Fire Magic, I found it a good Intermediate ski with a speed limit. Check out the thread about " Elans offering to the skidiva". There is lots of info there too. (Something like that Wave Magic I tried this weekend too!)

I just bought at pair of 156cm AC2s after demoing at Stowe this weekend. I class myself as an intermediate and am a bit shorter and lighter than you. These skis are very light feeling and turn really well but still can blast through the powdery stuff that for once was on the East Coast (OK not deep powder but as good as we normally get here :p )

I did try the Head Wild Thang but found this a bit dead in the snow, think it was a bit stiff and not enough side cut for my preferences. I also tried the Dynastar Exclusive Legends which I also liked a lot and have the same radius as the AC2s, but felt a little heavier. The tru luvs I tried last year and they didn't jump out at me and say buy me but were a nice stable ski, just not as much life as the AC2s in my opinion.
