That's where my brain goes, too. The few degrees warmer temps are what's not being factored into the long-range forecasts.

@skibum4ever I believe it can and likely will go higher as we bio-hack and condition our way to longer health spans. Free skiing at 85 - 90 - 95! Woo hoo!

I know it's early, but it looks like they're already forecasting a strong El Nino for the 26/27 season.

I'm worried about the warm temperature. Heavy r***n is not what our mountains need.
Yes, we definitely need the moisture but I just don't ski in the rain. Of course I ski now only at Mammoth and Keystone which are both high elevation. Keeping my eyes crossed for a fabulous winter. Have new knee will travel!!!

As I understand it, it's not perfect; however, there is one of the strongest El Niños in history in the Eastern Pacific forming. Climate scientists know what the effect of this will be on the global climate. Whether that means they can say exactly what the snowfall and temperature will be like in specific states, it's too early to tell. But in general, they can predict trends in the weather from this climate event.
At least that's how I understand it

We were in Helene (Asheville NC) and quickly learned how prepared we were… Not!
We now have a solar powered Jackery backup. A generator that will power our well. Along with the usual food, water, escape route etc.
It is amazing how fast frozen goods melt when there is no power. We were trying to keep things cool/frozen with the generator but that thing is noisy and takes fuel which we did not have. All stores and gas stations were closed. Fun all around.

The old El Nino is certainly making its presence felt down here, the warmth and winds have played havoc with our snowpack esp in the last couple of weeks and it looks like its going to continue, I feel the end is nigh esp where I live in Canterbury (NZ)
