In the "does he help" thread, I noticed a few divas who's husbands/boyfriends snowboard.
Its funny how times have change, in a good way, that we have options to spend time on snow, that weren't there back when I started skiing.

Very Cool in deed!

My husband skis, but he's really not that into it. He says 60% of the reason he's out there is to spend time with me (yes, he's a sweetie!). And about 30% is just to be outdoors.

I think if I gave it up tomorrow, he really wouldn't care. That said, he really is a good skier and my very best skiing buddy.

My hubby is a snow scraper, as I was for the past 10 years before an injury gave me the bright idea to try skis. He has always been great about staying with me on the slopes, and thankfully I am already a better skier than I was a snowboarder, so we are mostly going the same speed on the same runs now.

.....to beat the band!
The picture of grace on snow.
Truly an awesome skier.
And the last one off the slopes.

He started as a snowboarder and is pretty decent at it. Last year he picked up a set of skis to hang out with me on the moguls and is annoyingly good at that too.

My H skis. His idea of a good day is first lift til last lift and lunch is a Power Bar while on the lifts. He's a great skier and has been very patient teaching me and our son to ski the past several years. It's paying off, we can all now handle first to last lift, but we do call a line at the Power Bar lunches.

Ooh! The Powerbar lunches are the way to go! :becky:

my SO is a boarder and I'm a skier. He was a skier, but picked up boarding a few years back. he even admits that I have much better form than he ever did, but I never got the chance to see it. He is now extremely addicted to boarding. I guess what comes next is for me to board(tried a few times, better at wakeboarding) or go to the tele's. For now, I am happy with skis, and much more comfortable being better at something than him for a

oh yea, we are on the slopes all day too, first chair/tram til the end, but do need to break to pee, and then lunch, or vise versa.:D

Earl skis -- and he's a power bar on the lifts type too. First chair for sure, last chair, well, that depends on how long the day lasts! Bogus runs til 10p.m. most of the season, and he doesn't go that long (neither do I!)

Once in a while, we have an indoor lunch, but here's the thing: when he sits down for lunch, there's no getting him going again! Gotta work on that -- I seem to need a couple of runs to get going again after lunch, but getting him to do anything other than nap...

And the nap MUST take place in his favorite chair, at home, not in the lodge while I ski...

DH skis. He's been skiing since he was a chlid (though he did take a hiatus for quite a few years early on in our relationship). He's the one who introduced me to the sport, for which I am eternally grateful. :D

He tried snowboarding as a teen. It wasn't for him.

DH snowboards. I taught him how to ski many years ago but he didn't love it. He was just OK with it. I taught both our kids to ski, but my son wanted to try snowboarding too. DH said 'maybe I'll try that'. So I jumped on it and got them both a private lesson last year. My son loves snowboarding, DH likes it a lot. DH would love it if he didn't love snowmobiling more (he is a gearhead by nature). Anyway, what is important is that our family of 4 can go out together and enjoy skiing/boarding a lot in the winter now.:becky:

I taught DH to ski last season, and he really enjoys it. He says he's too old to fall down over and over again learning how to snowboard.

DH does not ski. He used to be an excellent x-country skier, but he had to give it up due to a worsening heart condition. This year, even snowshoeing will be hard for him :(
I feel very guilty about leaving him at home to go skiing, but it is my escape valve and he encourages me to get out. I try balance my free time between the slopes and quality time with him. He is a great listener of slightly exaggerated ski stories:love:

MH skied as a kid, turned snowboarder in highschool when it was the "cool" thing to do, and turned back to skiing when we met.

DH skis. He started when he was 3.5yo, I was 5yo. We are 100% compatible, ski the same ability and same stuff. Before kids, we'd be first/last chair skiers, with a quick lunch and beer in the car (only entered lodge to use bathroom).

Now with kids, we can't ski as much, and only get 1 day/season to ski together. But we still equally love it, and it's almost competitive, who got better conditions last weekend...I got dust and crust and he got good stuff the time before...so who goes solo or with older kid this time (staying on green trail/magic carpet)? And given I couldn't ski a couple years b/c of pregnancies and recovery, I still feel he's in debt lol. I swear last winter whenever he skied it was wonderful conditions, I always seemed to get the worse conditions (or is it perception lol). He gets a weekend away every March for his guys-only trip to Jay Peak...so unfair. My entire year's worth of skiing can't add up to that, and my pleas to join him b/c I can ski as good as the guys falls on deaf ears...hrmph... Wish I had a group of skilled women to join, but I don't..although thinking about the women's weekend clinic at my home mountain this year..but afraid that'd be boring and not challenging enough.

Skiing is one of the things that attracted me to my DH. We met in San Diego where you don't meet many skiiers and once he told me he was a skier I was even more interested in him. We've been skiing together ever since, although when we first met he was a better skiier (started earlier than me). However, since moving to Denver about 7 years ago, my skiing has improved. We have both gotten better and he is my Number One skiing buddy - we both like to spend most of the day in the bumps!

Try hooking up with skiwishes over at Perfect Turn. She is very involved in this program. She is an amazing, technical skier. I'm pretty sure there would be an ultra-advanced group. She hasn't posted here in awhile (but hopefully reads us?? skiwishes, are you there??). I met her late last March when I also met up with several other divas, including one who has become a great skiing friend thus far this winter at Sugarloaf, also skiing since knee-high...and yet, despite the fact that I learned as an adult, she can confirm that I don't hold anyone back :becky::wink: It's ALL about mileage...

And this forum, per Ski Diva's original intent, is all about meeting new skiing friends!

What About Both?

I had to choose 'Other' because my husband swings both ways (he HATES it when I say that). When conditions are slushy and mucky (or if he's just bored with his skis) he switches over to his snowboard.
