Do you read ski magazines?

And if so, which ones?

I get Ski just because I have to get something with pretty ski pictures to look at. It's not that great, but I like to look at the ads and dream. And Skiing magazine drives me crazy. I can't relate to it at all -- I think it's aimed at 20 year old males.

Just re-upped at Ski and they sent me a fuzzy blue blanket. Think I'll keep it in the car in case of emergencies.

I subscribe to Ski Canada. I buy the first issues - buyers guides with the reviews of SKI and Skiing, and occasionally Powder. We also have a new mag - SBC skier (freeride etc) here in Canada. I don't really see a difference between SKI and Skiing and they don't seem to like us Canuck for subscriptions, so only if the cover attracts me will I buy it. As always I read everything with "a grain of salt"!! The best seems to Ski Press which is free at most resorts throughout the winter!

I read Powder and Couloir mostly, then Skiing. SKI is pretty much intolerable, though it comes for free so I usually flip through it. I can't stand that it's all about fancy food and expensive condos and what resorts have the best shopping and 4 star restaurants. It doesn't strike me as being about skiing - it's about taking expensive vacations to ski resorts.

Once upon a time, both SKI and Skiing came to the house - but the quality/value and pertinence of these mags declined to the point where they just weren't worth the subscription price any more. There was another magazine I liked better (Snow Country, I think), but it wasn't around for very long.

Now I just pick up the annual gear review issues to I get an idea of what to demo, but even those tests aren't what they used to be. (And, since I'm primarily a "terminal intermediate" Northeast skier, I haven't even checked out Powder or Couloir...)

We get Ski and Skiing free through Nastar and our league racing. I read thm when I'm really bored, although we keep the buyer's guides each year (I currently have them back to 1997). I loved Snow Country and was bummed when it disappeared.

The only ones I religiously read cover-to-cover are Ski Press and Ski Racing (although I skip the X-country stuff).

I get Ski and Skiing as well. They are fun to read, and I like looking at the pictures. I don't fit into either demographic, really, but I still look forward to reading something ski realated each month.

Some of you Divas may remember my rant last winter about Ski and Skiing magazines. I resolved to abstain from subscribing to either of them this year, and my husband and I agreed we would only buy the "new gear" issue.
So I get a card in the mail about a month ago that says we've been selected to receive a free subscription to Ski. I guess I can rant but I can't hide!!!

Except a glance of the gear section, I don't think I read ANY ski mag.

I do like some of the beautiful photos though. But reading? No.

I avoid ANY magazine that has "10 tips to instantly become a better ..."! A sure sign the bean counters stole the soul of the mag. (not to mention a ski bum simply can't count to 10;))

I get Ski, rarely read the whole thing. Will probably let the subscription end. It seems to be a mag that I move around the house more than read.
