Do you like to feel sore at the end of the day?

I am not talking *injury* sore or *I need a few prescription painkillers at the end of the day* sore. . .

But *good and tired* sore. A *little weak* sore. *This might be a bit tight tomorrow* sore.

I LOVE feeling that way. . . and I kind of thought everyone did. But my Dad pops *Vitamin A* :eyebrows: several times throughout the course of the day to avoid that feeling. A friend of mine takes the day off the next day if she feels that way.

I mean, I definitely feel that way more often as I get older, and as my kids restrict the time I have for preparation in the form of plyos and really heavy lifting. But even though it's more often and a little worse, I still love it.

I was out at Vail yesterday and I am definitely feeling it today-- and I am so happy. :becky:

Probably wouldn't have a twinge at all if I had just skied with my Dad and his instructor, but I met up with an old friend for the afternoon, and between *testing* a couple of places in the Bowls (test results = uh, didn't warm up enough to soften most of the refrozen crud, so it took a lot of leg work and some serious hopping to get down with any style) and chasing her little, quick-turning, super-speedy, ex-racer butt down firm (for CO) steeps, I am feeling it. Ahhhhhh. I hope I never stop enjoying this feeling, at least to some degree!

Oh, I love that feeling too! It's proof that I worked hard and earned it. I'll bet that I'm feeling that this weekend skiing with the Divas!

Yep - I want the "My muscles are tired 'cause they got a good workout" feeling. But not so much that I can't ski again the next day, of course!

I miss that feeling. Love the good workout "soreness".

I like that feeling at the end of a hard skiing day. What's really funny is after getting home, sitting on the couch for a while, then trying to get up after you've stiffened up.

I will admit that I have been known to pop a few Advil before going to bed at night....Makes it a little easier to get up the next morning.

With my chronic aches and pains, I usually start and end my ski day with 'vitamin a.' The most satisfying feeling is, after a good day on the slopes, sitting on the sofa and being so physically exhausted that I just sit there, starting, with my mouth slightly open and a slight grin on my face. It's like one big, long, exhaling sigh of relief. :becky:

I'm there right now. Yesterday we skied bumps all day. I really needed a foot massage, but alas no body to do it. Today was more ski improvement and practice teach, so yah I'm sore, but rest and the right bed would help.

I've been trying to find someone to rub my feet too!

Yes, I LOVE the tired, sore muscles at the end of a great day.

Wait ! What are you trying to say? You mean my motrin 800's aren't a vitamin? Sheeze I've been taking them for so long that I just assumed that they were. Lol. I always hurt. It's amazing what bulging disk in your neck do to your perspective on things. I would personally like to finish skiing just once when I'm not sore.:(

I LOVE the end of the day thigh burn. I always feel more accomplished when the last run of the day is almost unbearable. :injured:

On the subject of foot massages.... My foot was killing me a couple weeks ago at Meadows, and joked about needing a massage, one of my guy friends (A snowboarder! Empathetic to ski boots anyways!) grabbed my foot and started rubbing it. No questions asked, no hesitation. Wow.

Needless to say, afterward was heaven in my boots. :becky: :eyebrows:

Yeah, I know it's been a good day skiing when I'm physically and mentally exhausted. A bit stiff and sore the next day at work just reminds me of what a great weekend I had. If I manage to miss a weekend where I don't get that sore/tired feeling, then I feel I've gotten soft and weak. :becky:

I love the little bit sore feeling after a good workout.

It's funny though, because obviously my mom and my sister don't get it at all! My mom had to go to physical therapy for something and said she wasn't going anymore because there was "something wrong with her" because when she'd lift weights her muscles would get sore afterwards. I couldn't convince her that's what's supposed to happen. My sister swears she has asthma because after 10 years of being a couch potato, she tried running and her lungs "really burned". They are both convinced that I only like exercise because it doesn't and I just don't understand what it's like for them, and I can't convince them that you learn to work through it and enjoy it.

I've got some pretty good arthritis going on in my knees these days, but even after surgery I don't take any painkillers anymore. They all bother my stomach, and I just ice and elevate when I need pain relief.

The only thing that bothers me is the noisy crackle in my knees when I run up and down the stairs when I'm enjoying the aching muscles apres ski!

I'm going for that vitamin M and little fermented grape right now. 7 days total, 5 days on course, and I hurt all over!! And a bunch of idiotiotic friends - the weekend warrior type- arriving later tonight!! I don't think we can get 800 up here. Might have to look for that!!

On a TOTALLY non-professional level, I take 3-4 OTC (over the counter) ibuprofen to equal the 600-800mg prescription strength. The OTC are 200mg each. That was the skier, not the nurse talking.:ski2:

AGAIN. Professional disclaimer. Drink plenty of water with your ibuprofen or any of those types of drugs (ibuprofen, naproxen) to protect your kidneys. That was the nurse talking!

Here's my philosophy: if I'm not sore, then I didn't ski (or hike) hard enough. It's a very satisfying feeling. And the best painkiller, IMHO, is a hot bath or hot shower if there's no bathtub available.
