Do you have gear or gear in transit or plans for new gear that will sit and wait to be used before the 09 Ski Season is upon us?

How nuts does that make you?
Do you often caress your gear during the summer?

Discuss!

 Great thread, SnowHot! Gave me a big a.m. smile. Sure you got enough choices there??

I caved around the 3rd or 4th week of March, as I recall. Got a few days on the new boards and am very happy. Waited for the magic number to come up, which in my case was 60% (off). Then pulled the trigger. As did several others on the forum for same make/model.

I can still edit the poll options if you think we could use more.

Classic movie/classic line:
"Sure you used enough dynamite there, Butch?"

My new Fischer Vision Allures ($215 on eBay) are sitting in my upstairs hall closet so I can easily peek in on them for my daily fix.

Na, its summer and the new Conquer's are actually out in the garage. But I can look at them. Right now I'm lusting after a new paddle.

Oh, I've got more dynOmite!!

I have some new skis in my future, and am paring down some of those in my current quiver.
What puzzles me most is WHY on earth am I so excited about getting them now.
Really, I can't use them until November.
All I can do is wax them, mount them, caress them, and drool on them.

Hope the drool doesn't rust the edges before I get to use them.:faint:

oooow Jilly! What kind of paddle? I haven't had a new paddle in three years! I got my bending branches very ergo friendly much easier on my wrist and elbows. I do have two carbon fiber (one blades, one complete blades and shaft) to work with my Prijons but I'm pretty traditional. I really love the look and feel of wood.

Dragon boat paddle that that is lighter than the one I have. Probably a JET or Burnwater. Going to festivals over the summer, so I'm going to check them all out. I know that MEC has a Jet. (MEC= canadian REI)
I'm also interested in a kayak for the cottage. But I don't want to spend alot of money on it yet. Other people use the cottage, so a plastic boat is probably the best way to go. I know of a group that buys new kayaks every year for their summer program and sell off last years to compensate the new purchase and add money to their coffers. I think I'm going to put my name in for one of those. Same price as a new one from Costco, better boat and doing something good for a organization.
Oh, Tremblant's first cheap deadline is next weekend for season passes. So, there goes a load of money.
It just goes in the account and out!

yes, check them out, play with them, need to wax em now

Ahhhhh, the smell of ski wax in the summer time........almost intoxicating!

When my Auras arrived, I brought my 2 pairs of Lines up from the basement, and now all 3 pairs are standing against the wall in the study. Every time I go in there I can stare at and caress my skis and dream of snowier days in my future.

Sounds like paradise!
Tell me more.

Yes, yes, yes. My skis live in the bedroom, and spend a good deal of their first days in my life laying in my bed and shaking off their jetlag. I want to lay them get a good look at them but don't want to put the bases down on the hardwood floors. I have been known to get in my boots and click in for skiing on my yoga mat. I do take care not to drool on them, though.

Since I'm probably going to be skiing this weekend, my gear's still getting love. But once I put it away for the season, it's untouched and unloved until October (sorry ski gear - I love you, but I love my bike more in the summer. :D)

I do have tentative plans for some Dynafit bindings this summer, if I can find a deal. But otherwise, I'm set.

oops, dur, bracket error, so sorry

mine are in my small "LR" just a'waitin' for some action.

Sounds like ski porn to me! There was a thread on newschoolers.com entitled, "Did you ever make love to your skis?" written, of course, by a guy. For me, skiing and skis aren't sexual. They're poetic.

My wide-waisted beauties beckon me to better days bombing through the pow, popping off a kicker, or just carving through the creamy, dreamy white stuff. Just one look at them, and perhaps a touch, and the heat and humidity of summer fades into the crisp freshness of winter fun.

No new gears CONCRETELY in plan.

I bought a bunch of stuff end of last season after coming back to skiing. Ski Diva and Epic help so much I have no pressing need to change much!

There're room to improve. But not yet nail what to improve WITH. (I demo-ed a few this year, none of them really hit my sweet spot just yet) So, until I demo some more next year, there won't be any new purchases.

On the other hand, about putting some tele binding + skins for my old ski, and/or getting a beacon and other gear/classes in preparation for more serious back country touring... that could be a different subject entirely!
