Divas in Steamboat - Day 3

I'm exhausted. :o

Not the "my boss has been on my butt all day" exhausted. Nor the "I just spent the last two hours with my mother-in-law" exhausted. Nor the "I just finished painting the living room" exhausted. But the, "I had a marvelous time and I can't stop smiling" exhausted. :D

What another great day! We had some gentlemen from Epic join us, so we had a group of 8 skiers - 5 guys and 3 divas. The weather was sunny and warm. It started out at about 25 degrees early in the morning and by mid-day it must have been in the 40's or 50's, I'm not sure.

The snow was soft and the terrain here at Steamboat is outta this world! Literally something for everyone! Do you like easy green runs? got'em. Nice blue cruisers? got'em. Hard steeps? got'em. Not sure that you are ready for black yet? Try their in between trails, labeled black and blue, which I like to think of as navy. Want some green glades to play in? got'em. Some blue glades and/or bumps to play in? got'em. Some really tough bumps and glades? got'em. There is approximately 3,000 acres of terrain here to ski - just amazing!

And the sky . . . the sky today was brilliant blue, without a cloud to be found. Even though I used 30 spf sunblock again, I'm sure that I've got some color.

And finally, what would a trip report be without the fantastic company! We had so much fun today, telling stories and laughing on the chair lift. Giving each other a hard time at lunch, and just generally enjoying this gift of life out on the slopes today. I am truly blessed, and I wish for all of the divas similar blessings tenfold!

What more can I say?? :D ~ Lola

Yesterday my butt was dragging so much I couldn't even post. Today, was perfect. And I have energy to spare. Steamboat is a great place for family fun and I would endorse it for everyone. Lola's post really says it all.

Tonight we are going out to dinner in the wild west cowboy town of Steamboat. We are going to a local's place called The Old Town Pub and Restaurant. We will let you know what we think.

All I can add is wahoo 2 more days!!!

What a great day! Today we were joined by SSH and Bong from Epic, two instructors from Copper. Had some great skiing with them, and they were kind enough to give me some tips, too.

The weather -- again, absolutely perfect. The snow soft and fun. Great skiing!

Life is good! :D

Wow! You deserve all the great times you're having out there.

Me, I'm just back here in Michigan plowing snow. Yup! snowed again here. I've also been waking up to negative temps.

So you have the best of both worlds..........Plenty of snow and tons of sun on your face! I'm so happy for you.

It sounds like you are just having a ball! Life is great, isn't it? :D

That's cool that SSH joined you. I don't think I recognize who Bong is. I'm sure it was fun to meet more Epic folks and have your own private instructors for the day.

Um . . . what about us poor frozen Divas back East?

Jeepers, you're making us drool and pant with your descriptions of the weather, the terrain, and the snow out there. Do you have any idea how much we're suffering back East??!!

The temperature on Mt. Washington Monday night was -36 degrees. At my home mountain, Gunstock, it was -22 the next morning on the summit, with a powerful wind. [Reminder: It's March.]

I very intelligently chose this week for a 3-day condo rental and skiing with a friend from afar. On Tuesday we had hot chocolate in the lodge. That was it! We barely made it from the car to the lodge, gripping each other for dear life.
Wednesday we got in a couple of hours of ksiing in 10-degree weather, skiing on concrete.

Sigh . . . I musn't begrudge you your pleasure, though, so HAVE FUN, YOU LUCKY SUCKERS!!!
