Divas in Steamboat: Day 2

Whew! Another fabulous day of fabulous skiing with the fabulous divas (and a few guys in tow, my husband, my son, and my dad)! I truly had a great day of skiing, and I have some racoon eyes to prove it (slight sunburn despite the 30 spf sunblock)! The weather was beautiful, sunny skies, no wind, and a warm 43 degrees. The snow was soft and spectacular . . . .and the company was awesome! Ski Diva demoed a few pair of skis . . . but I'll let her tell you about that.

Last night I was really tired, and I had a hard time staying vertical after 8 pm. Tonight I am feeling much better, and ready to watch the movie Don Juan DeMarco starring Johnny Depp with the divas! Now that should be fun! :D And I hear Lil is making Mexican for dinner.

And just think . . . tomorrow I have to get-up and do it all over again! :D Yipee for me!

Another beautiful bluebird day. Warm temperatures, soft snow --what could be better (especially since I heard it was below zero in Vermont today!). I had a fantastic time demoing skis. For details, see my report in the Gear Review section. Nothing like trying skis back to back! Unfortunately, I have a habit of getting a little carried away with my skiing and overshooting lifts, which can sometimes cause problems......like having to walk baaaaaack up the slope or take a different lift baaaaaack up the mountain to get where I want to go. I really need a native guide! Anyone up to the task?

Strange but true -- went up on the lift with someone I've ridden the lift with before at Okemo. What are the odds of that????

How did you realize that you'd shared a lift before?

I'm going on a girl date this week with the former co-worker that I met while on a chairlift this season. Hee.

He actually remembered certain things I'd told him before. Spooky, huh?

An older guy (as in "Over-The-Hill Gang"). Very sweet, too. From New Hampshire.

What's the big deal? Just a typical day in Colorado. 40+ days like this. We got up today, we were moving slow, couldn't decide if we wanted to go to Keystone or Copper. Maybe I should have stayed in Denver and gone for a bike ride.
I have new skis and new adjustments to boots and my lesson is tomorrow so I wanted to try it all out today. So I had to ski today. But we dragged our feet getting out. Ho Hum, the morning was ok, wasn't sure of the new skis, not sure of conditions, wished I had my Volkl's.
Maybe these skis weren't what I thought, I love Volkl's bought K2's, what was I thinking?
After a couple of runs I started realizing that these new skis weren't my Volkls, skied a few bump runs, Golddigger and Retreat, my favorite runs, wow, was I happy, the skis just glided though the bumps.
I've been taking lessons all season and sometimes revert back to old bad habits. I realized that the new skis like good technigue. By the end of day I was happy with new skis.
Sorry I highjacked your thread, I do appreciate the thrill of skiing Colorado, when I was in Cincy I lived for my Christmas and spring breaks so I could go skiing in Colorado.

BTW, Copper was warm but cloudy for most of the day. Where's this sun you're talking about?

Yeah, sounds wonderful. If I'd been with you maybe I wouldn't have gotten chocolate on the white part of my jacket or smashed on the shoulder with someones skis on the bus, but it was a great day, as always, in Colorado.

I love living here!

Tell us what parts of the mountain you've skied so far! Have you skied any of the glades?

Have you skied Storm Peak yet? Standing at the top of SP is one of my very favorite places in the world, and the ski down is just as fantastic.

We have skied off of Storm Peak every day. I know what you mean about the view. Beautiful!
