I was chatting with @MissySki about this ad campaign about Snowbird - wish there had been more snow today, but it’s true, the terrain is steep there!!

I would LOVE to come back to Snowbird when there’s more snow on the mountain, it would be truly incredible!

Plan to join at Alta tomorrow. Trying to decide which skis…is snow soft or scratchy?

There is soft snow in the usual places. I found places to get fresh tracks and stayed on top with my Stormrider 85s. At Alta, I wouldn't call the groomers "scratchy." At least not until mid-afternoon.

I remember seeing this ad in Ski magazine and possibly also NYT several years ago. Brilliant!

Discovered there is a new alternative to holding onto the transfer tow the entire way when heading towards Albion. Gets hard towards the end when you are going uphill just before reaching the Sunnyside lift. There is a new covered magic carpet used by Alta Ski School for teaching true beginners. Also can be used by the public. Saw a couple of mothers with toddlers trying to get them to slide a little. If you get off the transfer tow a bit early, can ride up on the carpet and get to the snow level of the Alta Ski School. Easy to get to anywhere at the Albion base from there without having to go uphill on skis.

New covered magic carpet, long one was running, short one was not

Since I have an Alta Senior Pass this season, I opted to stick to skiing Alta this week. Did a little exploring on the Sugarloaf/Supreme side in the afternoon. I know the area well because I've been spending at least a week at Alta Lodge in April since 2010. Have learned from friends and instructors over the years, as well as just exploring leisurely.

After going out the first gate at the bottom of Razor Back, can head into the trees beyond the gully

A favorite gate, a bit harder right now because the entrance requires going uphill, there are multiple options after going through the gate

See the people heading up to Catherine's? Most people carry their skis although it's possible to keep them on and herringbone and sidestep the entire way
