Diva Injured!

Just read about this on Epic, so I thought I'd better post it here, too.

One of our very own ski divas, Bonni, took a fall at Schweitzer yesterday and suffered a boot top open fracture of the tibula and a closed fracture of the fibula. She spent 2 hours in surgery, and at last report, is doing well.

As I understand it, she was attacked by a pack of viscous snow snakes. A bounty is offered for the aforementioned snakes, dead or alive!

Bonni, when you get around to reading this, best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

my thoughts are with you for a speedy recovery. Sounds like you might have to be off your feet for awhile. Lola may be able to give you some tips on getting water out of the frig and getting upstairs to your bedroom. Seriously, treat yourself kindly so you can heal quickly.

Sorry about being late to the party, but I've been slowly going cccrazy over the last couple weeks! :D

I had a nasty compound break....the top of my tibia (the big one) broke at boot top and went forward into my boot liner, while the smaller lower leg bone went with it but didn't break the skin.

Ow. :o

I'm somewhat mellowed out today, with the stitches out, but it's going to be a 6 month healing period, and no walking at all on it for almost 2 more months. Since I'm already going nuts, this is going to be a long haul.

I'll come here more often, after I'm more rested. For now, I haven't really slept in 12 days, and I'm a mess. Doc has ordered valium to help me sleep. I hope it works: I get about 2 hours a day of unbroken sleep. it's not enough.

All in all, not as bad as I thought it could be. Thanks for all the well wishes and support. Divas Rock!

Hey SkiDiva......I got all the time in the world to read, any chance of buying a copy of Finn earlier than March?? :D I'm itching for a great read! Right now I'm almost done with Lisey's Story (Stephen King), and while not a bad book, not riveting like what Finn will be!

Thanks for the update. Doesn't sound like too much fun; I'm sure once you get some rest you'll begin to feel a lot better. As a chronic insomniac, I can sympathize with not getting enough sleep.

Although I wish I could get you a copy of Finn early, I'm afraid that's not possible. The book goes on sale February 20, but you can pre-order it now from any one of a zillion places (including Amazon or Barnes & Noble online). Sorry 'bout that. We only have one copy, ourselves.

I have some considerable pain this afternoon. Sleep is still eluding me, dang it. Ya can't hurt when you sleep!

Hey Bonni,

Make sure you hunt down a copy of "Right on the Edge of Crazy". It's a year-in-the-life of the US Ski Team (Tommy Moe, AJ kitt, and crew). It's a riveting read!! Sorry, I don't know the author right off hand. :(

That should hold you over until Finn comes out.

Ryan from Epic sent me a book: The Race of My Life by Hermann Maier, and a movie Ski Bums. I'll be reading that for a while. I leafed through the pictures of the Hermannator's leg, and it was broken just like mine, so this ought to be a 'queasy' read! Vuja de!!

Feeling better every day. I slept last night and feel even better today. I feel the worst is over. Two weeks of agony? Not bad compared to what I thought it would be!
