Some of you may remember this post last fall by Didi Lawrence.

Didi was trying to raise money for a trip to Nepal to ski Annapurna, one of the world's tallest mountains. It was a personal journey for her, having suffered a broken pelvis and battled both alcohol and drugs. Didi is the daughter of Andrea Mead Lawrence, the only American to have won two gold medals at a single winter Olympics. Her father, David Lawrence, was on the Olympic Team as a coach. And her grandparents founded Pico Mountain, which is now part of Killington in Vermont. She also conducts a women’s ski clinic at Aspen Highlands, as well as a Masters Extreme Clinic for women. Plus she’s a gear tester for Ski Magazine (that’s her on the cover of the 2006 Gear Guide).

Anyway, Didi finally made the trip, skiing Annapurna last March. I recently interviewed her for my blog, and thought some of you might want to take a look. She's come through so much and is truly an inspiration. If you'd like to take a look, go here. Please feel free to comment there; I'm sure she'd love to read them.

When I think of Annapurna, I think of strong, persevering women. I don't know why Didi chose that mountain, but to me, because the first American team to summit it was an all-women team, everything I associate with the mountain exudes a powerful grace.

SD,
Great choice for an interview. I really enjoyed reading the Blog!
What a great experience...what would it be like to glide with birds of prey....that must be amazing! But I loved her comments on women taking the offensive rather than defensive approach to skiing...personally working on that.....

thank you all

:ski: I just wanted to say thank you so much for all of your support and comments on this great website. My journey to Annapurna was amazing and to continue to achieve the ultimate is my goal. I hope you all have an extraordinary winter. If any of you get to Aspen, look me up. I have a women's extreme clinic in January. Thanks again,Didi

Didi, you are an inspiration!

There are some profound women who participate here! I am blessed to have the opportunity to be touched in this forum.

Parahawking! OMG, that sounds amazing. If any of you have watched the fictional (long) movie Dinotopia, parahawking reminds me of that movie.... Thanks Didi for being such an inspiration. You are living proof that 50 is the new 30!
