Denver-area divas...

Yup another pre-travel post from me

So... as we were loading the skis into the sporttube we noticed that both of our skis could use a quick tune - starting to see some burn on the base  and we don't have time to get them tuned locally (nor is there any place we know of close to home that's really great for such) before we fly to Denver on Wednesday. Luckily we don't plan to ski until Friday so if we could find a good place to do an over night/during the day tune on Thursday that would be ideal. We'll be staying at the 4pts Southeast (6363 E. Hampden Avenue) and will have a car, so we're not totally limitted. I know we have a pretty large Colorado contingent so I'm hopeful we can get a suggestion! Thanks in advance!

First things first, you're staying about 2 miles from my apartment!

But, for a tune head straight east on Hampden which will turn into Havana. At Parker & Havana is Colorado Ski and Golf and they should be able to help you. Maybe given them a call before hand and make sure they can do it that fast.

Yup, I agree with Robyn. Ski & Golf is the way to go. This time of year, I would guess they should be able to do a really quick turn-around. They did a tune for me in two days in January. Depending what time your flight gets in, it wouldn't be very out of your way at all to drop them off on the way to your hotel.

Robyn, where are you at? I'm in Lowry, so just a couple of miles from there as well!

I'm WAAYYYYYYYYYYYY north.....but I agree...Colorado Ski & Golf!

Also, if they can't do it Christy Sports is always a good bet.

Don't forget about our micro-brew!

Mr. NVG tried to order this over and over in NYC on our honeymoon and NO-ONE had it! I thought he was going to DIE!!!!

Mmmm, 1554, 90 Schilling, White Rascal, 5 Barrel. Yes, I love micro brews!

Indeed we are looking forward to those microbrews! And more if NVG's health cooperates!

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately we get in LATE on wednesday night so I doubt the shops will be open then... but we'll be up bright and early on Thursday as we'll both still be on EDT!

DH will definitely be up for that wheat beer. He's developed a real afficiency for them lately. Me, I tend to like dark beers, or fruit-based beers. I LOVE a good blueberry beer.

In good news I gave Colorado ski and golf a call and they say no problem to do the tune overnight! woohoo!:ski2:

I prefer Avery Brewing Co's White Rascal for a wheat bear. For dark try New Belgium's 1554 or Left Hand's Milk Stout.

Umm beer! Yum. I like Skinny Dip from New Belgium also. But there aren't too many beers I don't like!

As always, our Denver Divas know exactly what you should do. CO Ski and Golf is very close to where you are staying! (So am I, as a matter of fact! Probably less than a mile!) You are staying right by my favorite Drive Thru Starbucks! I thought I might have some coupons for CO Ski and Golf...but I can't find them at the moment. If I do, I will let you know!

If you are going downtown to the Hockey games and don't want to drive, you will be very near the light rail. It takes you to the Pepsi center...I think that's where the games are????

Oooooo!!!! The light rail would be a fun Denver Experience for you, too!!!! And....you wouldn't have to try to find a place to park downtown (can be hard and expensive!)

Excellent!

DH had already planned on the light rail - used googlemaps to see how far/short the walk would be! So glad to confirm that it really is as close as it looked.

And yes.... mmmmmmm beer. However it's not gonna help me adapt to the altitude, now is it? :p

SkiMom, we live very close!

That is so cool! and Itri in Lowry!!! Too bad NVG is way up north:wink:

and yes to persee...Light rail is that close to your Hotel...you just have to cross a busy street and walk a little to right where the light rail picks up. Or, if it's cold or it will be late, you could easily drive to the park and ride!

Well...if I wasn't such a SouthEast Denver girl, I might have to join you up that way. It seems to be the best place for new restaurants!
