demo weekend???

I'm getting really excited! Way overdue for a mini-vacation!

Next weekend, I'm headed for this:

Am I guessing correctly that my little K2 True Luvs might not enjoy the trip a whole lot? I'm pretty sure they won't be happy in the crud -- our home mountain, Bogus Basin, is a busy place and the runs I skiied last weekend were pretty pushed around pretty fast. (seemed to get pretty skiied up within an hour of opening the lifts!) I was pretty beat by the end of the half day! (about 8" powder over groomed runs) DH had tackled more interesting terrain, and he was more beat, though his skis like powder and crud better than mine, so his runs were smoother than mine!

Will three days be more do-able if I demo lots? From what I can tell, the resort's shop sells K2, Salomon, and Volkl. My comfortable experience is primarily groomed blue to dark blue runs, with occasional not so deep fluff. Demo suggestions happily accepted. I'm 5'4, 165, currently skiing on 153 True Luvs that I think I've about outgrown. (in case that's helpful info!)

Splurging on a lesson or three is in the cards too! Are lessons and demoing compatible? Or is it better to lesson on familiar skis? I suppose if the ski is totally wrong for the conditions, though...

Thank you ladies, for any helpful hints to make our first long weekend trip extra memorable! (bring Advil-type suggestions welcome too!)

If you're looking at Salomon, try the Jewel line - the Topaz I think might just be right. All mountain, yet you'll be able to use on the groomers. I'd take the K2's just to prove to yourself that you've outgrown them. And if there is bad weather, you might like the security of knowing that ski. If you can reserve the demo's before you leave try too. Oh 160 cm should be the right length. I'm the same size and the length I tried last winter.

Thanks, Jilly! K2's will come along. They'd be pretty sad if they had to stay home, you know! The Topaz appears to have almost exactly the same sidecut and radius of my current ski. Interestig to test drive and see how it may differ performance-wise.

According to the Salomon rep if you like the Origin ski, its too expensive, try the X-wing 10. The Origin has really flower petals in the top sheet, nice, but not worth the extra money for that board! There is also the Jade, it appears to be stiffer than the Topaz.
